February 7, 201016 yr Author I wonder why Cedar Fair can not use Thunder Express for Flight Deck? Does Dollywood still own the name? I thought it was supposed to be named Thunder Road.
February 7, 201016 yr ^the way the article read, i took it as Kings Island was going to name it thunder express, then after paramount bought the park they changed the name to top gun.
February 7, 201016 yr And, as told to me years ago by one who knew, I still postulate the original name for Top Gun at Kings Island was Swoop. Yes, Swoop. Note also that after Screamin Demon was moved to Camden Park, it was called Thunderbolt Express....and that move took place in 1988. I really doubt Kings Island would have used a name so similar to one in use by a park they sold a ride to just five years before....
February 8, 201016 yr I think Swoop would be an okay name! If the sign were like, a big, comic-book-y explosion with those circular pixels of color, and 3-D lettering.. Hahha. I mean, it's really not that bad of a name. Or even something along those lines like Swinger (obvious detractions aside). Hahha! Top Gun, though, is cooler. Of course.
February 8, 201016 yr I could care less what Cedar Fair re-named Top Gun, you should be more ticked at how terrible they let it look than what they call it. Also, I don't think Thunder Express was ever the name, rather it was "Thunder Run."
February 8, 201016 yr ...which was already in use at Kentucky Kingdom, and had been since 1990... And if you could care less, then you do care some. Terpy, who just HAD to.
