The Interpreter
...Anyone who's not yet experienced such a flashback, but loved Geauga Lake — which operated from 1888 to 2007 in Aurora and Bainbridge Township — is now invited to the first ever Geauga Lake Memorabilia Show and Employee Reunion. The event, which is not affiliated with Cedar Fair Entertainment Co. or Geauga Lake's Wildwater Kingdom, will be from 7 to 10:30 p.m. March 6 at Roller Hutt Skate & Fun Center, 10268 Hewins Road, Route 88, Garrettsville. The event will feature a slew of collectors of Geauga Lake memorabilia, and organizer Jason Dlugokecki hopes to create the ambiance of the amusement park where he worked from the summers of 1994 to 1998; tunes and tasty scents that once drifted over the park will fill this festival, too, care of a DJ and a carnival food concession stand.... One Aurora exhibitor will be looking to sell items he bought during the June 2008 auction of its outbuildings, rides and equipment. Another man will sell paper weights made from wood salvaged from the Big Dipper's disassembly.... Dlugokecki said his own display will include the head of park mascot Geauga Dog, uniforms from his employment, signs, posters and banners, and pictures of rides being constructed during the off season. Admission is $5 to cover the facility's operating costs for a nonskating event, but exhibitors and event volunteers get in free.... http://www.news-hera...s/nh2096831.txt

Diamondback96
What is this about Big Dipper being turned into paperweights? I thought it was still standing!
IBEW_Sparky
Im really hoping they screwed up and meant to say Wolfbob's or Villain's disassembly. Yes, I know RWB still partially stands, but some of it has been removed. EDIT: I just did some further research, the wood being used for the paperweights was aquired from the wood that was damaged on Dipper when the pumphouse was removed.

PhantomTheater
Official press release PRESS RELEASEFor Immediate Release Contact: Jason Dlugokecki (330) 322-7853 or jasondawn@sbcglobal.net Geauga Lake Memorabilia Show & Employee Reunion Set for March 6 Garrettsville, Ohio – February 8, 2010. The first ever Geauga Lake Memorabilia Show & Employee Reunion will take place on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Roller Hutt Skate & Fun Center at 10268 Hewins Road, State Route 88, in Garrettsville, Ohio. The show will run from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and will celebrate the history of Geauga Lake amusement park, which opened in 1888 and closed in 2007. The event is intended to be not only a memorabilia show for former guests of the park, but also an opportunity for employees of Geauga Lake, Six Flags Ohio and Sea World Ohio to reconnect, according to organizer Jason Dlugokecki, a former Geauga Lake employee who bought the head of park mascot Geauga Dog after the park closed. Attendees will be able to board a boat from Geauga Lake’s Log Ride. Exhibits will also include a large video screen showing home videos of Geauga Lake and Sea World, a car from Geauga Lake’s Musik Express, items from the Turtle Beach children’s area, Geauga Dog and other items from the park. The ride cars are now owned by the Euclid Beach Boys, who have added many items from Geauga Lake to their collection of Euclid Beach Park memorabilia. “Euclid Beach Park closed 40 years ago and interest in it is still growing,” said Euclid Beach Boy John Frato. “We see the same thing starting to happen with Geauga Lake.” A DJ will play tunes that once drifted over Geauga Lake and amusement park-style snacks will also be available. In addition to displaying Geauga Lake items, exhibitors may also offer items for sale, but according to Mr. Dlugokecki many exhibitors will be collectors who are still adding to their collections and will not have anything for sale. Admission is $5 to cover Roller Hutt’s operating costs for this non-skating event, but is free for exhibitors or event volunteers. This event is not sponsored by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company or Geauga Lake’s Wildwater Kingdom.
