DanielRadsgrl
Ok well I swear to god that in the beginning of the year they said get your 2003 pass now and get free fearfest so I was like ok im going to fearfest. But now It's saying on commercials "update your pass now and get free 2003 fearfest" like you dont get it on the regular pass so I'm so confused and I don't want to go all the way to Kings Island and them tell me of you cant get in with thoose passes. mars1825
Fearfest is included in the general admission. There is no extra charge. If you have a season pass then you can get into Fearfest.
pki_bighogg
Ya it's kinda nice that you don't have to pay extra for the Fearfest.
Crazy31088
Let me just make positive sure that I have it right...We bought our 2003 season passes back in April....can we get into Fearfest without additional charge? mars1825
Yes. Fearfest is included with general admission to the park. It is just like any other regular day except the park has Fearfest activities, So season passes for 2003 and 2004 are good.
teenageninja
Their are some obvious and advantages and disadvantages to Fearfest: Advantages: It's free this year Haunted houses are open longer Disadvantages: It's over before it started last year (I think anyways) It's free causing greater lines It's light out when the houses open Route 666 will only be open like an hour and will be the most popular attraction. Hopefully it's not the same next year.
andyatuc
Advantages: - It's included in admission. No need to buy other tickets, just stay in the park and enjoy the scary attractions. - There is more to do this year because there will be more people in the park. The haunted train ride with the pumpkin patch sounds like fun to me. Disadvantages: - It's included in admission. This means twice the normal amount of people in half the space. Add onto that the fact that it'll be dark earlier and therefore slightly more dangerous with all of those people in the park. - The rides and attractions will open throughout the day but I'm not sure when. If what I want to ride opens without me knowing when I might have to wait longer than I really want to wait. - It's not open on Friday this year but it IS open on Sunday. Not sure what to make of that yet... I think it's funny that we aren't charging an extra price. It was the number one complaint about FearFest in the past and I think it'll end up being the number one again this year. Only this year they'll complain about having too many people in the park and will want to go back to the old way. It's the classic paradox of the public mentality. Gotta love it... SML828
I'm not sure I like the Saturday/Sunday vs Friday/Saturday...Don't forget, people at H.S. Football Games took away from Friday crowds too! On Saturdays the park is open till midnight and on Sundays till 10pm...Last year everything was open till 1am. However, the first two years - we were open till midnight and they changed it one night to 1am because of the long lines...I have a feeling that will happen again...Which really screws up the associates...since minors can't work past a certain time (11pm/11:30pm - can't remember) during the school year...it was bad enough sending them home early and running things with one or two people at the houses! I think the time/day switch is probably a mistake! I do think the lines for the houses will be horrible this year....maybe having the indoor ones open @ 3pm will help a little, but I doubt it. (Side note: that probably means Scrambler will close early, to make room for the House of Darkness queue line). All of the others will open at approx the same time they did last year...which means things like the Trail of Terror and Route 666 will open around 8pm. As far as the paying for FearFest issue, I agree andyatuc - It's a Catch-22...They are giving people what they want (no extra charge for FF), but I think it's going to bite them (PKI and the guests) in the butt HARD! I guess we'll have to wait and see! I'm still looking forward to it! Just my opinions!
missdi
It is really nice that we don't have to pay for Fearfest this year but it is true, the lines are going to be horrible. In my opinion they should still be charging for Fearfest admission to non season pass holders, just not as expensive as it has been in the past. CYoung2003
Ok, you people are acting like PKI doesnt want alot of people in the park. HELLO, thats the whole purpose of making Fearfest on the weekend and part of general admission, to attract more people and to make the capacity skyrocket! Capacity hasnt been to great for Fearfest in the past, and this is a good way to boost it. If they didnt do this then they would probably have to get rid of Fearfest due to poor attendance. Are you kidding me? FearFest has been PACKED every year! Except for bad weather nights, we always had 1 to 2 hour waits for EVERY house! They don't need to up capacity...plus if they wanted to do that - they would've kept it open until 1am like last year...We were almost always busy until close! They were doing just fine...I understand not making people pay extra (especially season pass holders) because it did turn-off many, but the crowds were still there. CYoung2003
Well then you obviously did'nt see any of the ride lines for the Friday nights, they were dead walk ons. There were some points that we were just standing around at Drop Zone and waiting for people to come and ride. It may be good for the haunted houses capacity but its a ride capacity killer and I think taking Friday nights out of the picture and moving that day to Sunday is a smart idea. Chatter
Are there any certain times of day that the lines at Fearfest are fairly short? What times do the Haunted Houses usually open? We were thinking about taking our kids (but their rides close at 6 or 7 pm) and while my wife takes them through the H-B activities, I could go through the Haunted Houses if they're open by then. Just our thought.......but maybe they don't open til like 8 pm and then I'm screwed.....or maybe they open at 6, but I'll have to wait in line for 2 hours just for one house? I just want to know what to expect.
SML828
CYoung - The main purpose of FearFest is the haunted attractions, not the rides...Yes the rides are important, but it's not really the main point of FF. So, I think as long as the haunted stuff is crowded, that's what is important! Of course that's just my opinion. Chatter - In past years, the haunted houses didn't open until 8pm. This year, some of the indoor houses will open at 3pm. But most will not until 8pm...maybe a little earlier, but not likely. So, you might get to do SOME of the attractions, but I have no idea how bad the lines will be this year with no extra FF charge and opening earlier...They could be longer lines, but they also might be shorter since people can start going thru earlier. It's really just dumb luck with the stuff that opens earlier. I hope that made some sense!?
nightrider19
what time does the park close during fearfest and did they say all the rides would be open, i thought i read that somewhere
coasterrz
On Saturdays, the park closes at midnight and on Sundays the park will close at ten. It is my understanding that most all the rides will remain open until the closing hour. However, Nick Central and Hanna Barbera Land will close at seven. nightrider19
someone told me the park opened late and stayed open till 2, that would be great, but i guess its not gonna happen
coasterrz
The past three FearFests, the park opened for Fear Fest at 8pm and closed at 1am on Friday and Saturday. However, this year, they have changed FearFest to be included in park admission. With this change, they have dropped FearFest being on Fridays. Shman
On Saturdays the park will close at 12 midnight.....and on Sundays it will close at 10:00pm. The family attractions and events (mostly held in HB & picnic grove) will be taking place during the day, I believe ending around 6.....The Maze of Madness, House of Darkness, and the Crypt will open at 3pm and run untill park close. And Route 666, the Circus, and Pyscho Path will open at 8pm and run untill park close. So be sure to plan ahead if you are going on Sundays, because those last 3 attractions will only be open for 2 hours. As for rides that are open after 7:00 I was told this is the list: Son of Beast Drop Zone Delirium Face Off Adventure Express (Forward) Racer Antiques (Route 666) Dodgems Flight of Fear Vortex Action Theater (Elvira's Superstition) Beast Flying Eagles Tomb Raider: The Ride Some rides that MAY open after 7:00: Monster Zephyr Shake Rattle and Roll Rides that will be CLOSED for all of October/November: WaterMaze (weather) White Water Canyon (weather) Scrambler (Cue line for House of Darkness)
SML828
I was wondering about Scrambler - if it would be open at all...I guess it makes sense with House opening @ 3pm - I absolutely HATED setting up that queue...We could never do it the same way twice!
Shman
Actually it will be a little bit easier this year......I believe (if I am not mistaken) that they will actually be removing the scrambler cars and arms this year....to give some extra room so the midway is not horribly congested this year. SML828
I can't believe it! Doing something productive and helpful - I'm in complete shock! I hope they re-work the other houses too! You know what you'll be doing Shman, if anything? PM me if ya don't want to share on the board. I'll be out there a few times.
SOB_TOM
As for the lines on the rides for FearFest, last season TRTR was pretty much walk on. We were letting people skip antechamber and go straight to preshow (the movie room). The last day, the park closed at 1, and we got done cycling people through the ride about 2:30. Thatwas the longeest day I have ever worked. Close to 20 hrs in one day.
