countess_of_tuscany
This is probably a strange topic/poll but it's out of curiosity. I have only been going to Kings Island since 2008 (CP is my home park) and I absolutely fell in love with it! Everything is amazing there except for one thing .. the yellowjackets in the fall time. They are terrible! Both years I have been there have been filled with them. There were so many that they were even on top of Eiffel Tower and at the top of Drop Tower all the way at the top! I am really freaked out when it comes to bugs of any kind, but especially ones that can actually hurt me like yellowjackets. (and it doesn't help being allergic to them!) My question is, is it common for yellowjackets to be so prominent at Kings Island and the surrounding areas? It just freaks me out because I always think that I will get stung. I put a poll on here asking if you have ever actually been stung at Kings Island Maybe it may give me a tiny bit more peace-of-mind if I see that, although there are so many of them, not many people have gotten stung. Or, it could go the other way and actually have tons of people who have gotten stung, which will back up my fear even more! I'm curious to see how often those pests really sting! Also, feel free to share strange yellowjacket or any other kind of bug encounters at Kings Island or any other park! buzz..buzz..buzz.. coasterguy15
I've noticed the bees, but never had any problems or encounters with them.
RWildman424
I used to be terrified of anything buzzing around me. One of my first memories is of being attacked by a swarm of wasps. I was too young to know what a wasp's nest was, and I poked it. To be completely honest, last year was probably the first time I've ever not been hesitant around bees. As many know, they swarm around trash cans. As a Diamondback ride op, I had to change these trash cans every night. I would just tell my self to get over it and do your job, and after a few times I wasn't even worried about it anymore. Now I'm to the point where they can fly all around me and not bother me. i guess you can say that having all the bees at KI has cured my fear of bees. Dvo
I'll be quite honest, I've never really noticed any bug problems at KI, other than when cicadas come out in full force. Although it could just be because the bugs at CP are so ridiculously bad, everything else I've seen is minimal in comparison.

Justin_M17
I usually see a lot of bees/wasps hovering around trash cans when I go to throw something away but other than that they're not really a big problem.
The Interpreter
Amusement parks....cotton candy...disposed of half consumed sweet beverages, partially consumed food....yep, most parks draw bees and yellow jackets...lots and lots of them. Even Disney sometimes has this problem, though it seems to less often than most due to their garbage system (underground tunnels are used to swiftly get it away) and efforts to keep the parks meticulous. I think the major difference bee/yellow jacket wise between CP and KI is climate. KI's relatively more bees/yellow jackets is more than made up for, as has been said, by CP's many, many bugs...especially but not limited to muffleheads! count_of_tuscany
Inside the Nick U gift shop two years ago during Haunt I saw a SpongeBob beach towel that interested me. It was located near one of the side entrances. I couldn't see a price tag on the towel, so I was lifting up on the corner of the towel to see if it was hidden in one of the folds and suddenly felt a sharp pain. I then saw a yellow jacket fly out from the towel and leave the store. I never did find the price, but nonetheless, I did not purchase the towel! The Interpreter
Had you then bought the towel, you might have been stung twice!
bkroz
Had you then bought the towel, you might have been stung twice! You ought to do standup. Really!
The Interpreter
I did. Yesterday. In Cincinnati, no less. Honestly. Terpy, who learned long ago that sometimes you can tell the complete truth and no one will believe you!
DaveStroem
Last year we noticed more then a usual amount of yellow jackets in the line up to AE. One in our group was highly allergic to bees so he took off quickly and did not ride.

Beast79
I've noticed them, I encountered a swarm of yellow jackets once while I was inspecting Xtreme Skyflyer. I was about 3/4 of the way up on the back rabbit ears when I noticed them, I had to go back down to grab some bug spray then climb back up to spray them out. Just imagine me holding on the tower like King Kong swatting at bees around 150 feet in the air. Fun
count_of_tuscany
Had you then bought the towel, you might have been stung twice! Indeed! You know, I tried doing standup once... but I got tired and had to sit down!
XGatorHead 8904
I've never been stung at KI, although I've had plenty of experience with bees there. I worked for two years in Rivertown Karts, which included Thelma's Frozen Lemonade. Let's just say that the bees were very attracted to that stand. They would fly in through the window, and we were constantly swatting them. GatorGirl got stung at Hersheypark this past summer while in line for a ride. We rushed her to first aid, and they were very helpful there. She also loved the fact that they gave her a little stuffed animal! It made the whole experience a little better for her. TTD-120-420
I was stung multiple times in one trip when I was younger. Probably around 4 or 5. Last year was my first trip(s) back to KI since then and thats the first thing I noticed. Standing in line for beast scares me to death because they are EVERYWHERE! They like to bulid nests in the wood I guess.
IslandAddict
Had you then bought the towel, you might have been stung twice! Indeed! You know, I tried doing standup once... but I got tired and had to sit down! I knew that would come along somewhere! As for the bee issue, I don't really pay attention. I've probably encountered them around trash cans (Especially the ones at my school, but that's not quite Kings Island). Maybe it's just that I'm too focused on getting to a ride or trying to tell my friend that Fair- I mean Woodstock Express isn't scary at all.
