Closed Rides

We were there the entire day. Invertigo never opened. Bumper cars were down while we were in that area, as was BLSC. The red racer was down for a large portion (if not all?) of the day. The Beast closed for a while as we were waiting in line. Reptar (whatever it is now) never opened. Flight of Fear was down while we were in line and Boo Blasters was down for a little while as we waited too. I joked that we brought bad luck to the rides, since everything we stood in line for had to stop at some point. Monster was also down during the evening, as was Delirium. I think that is all of the closures we encountered. It was pretty crowded today, so rides being down really added to wait times. I think we waited over an hour for the Scrambler (and were attacked by termites, ick!)

All in all, I'm pleased with our trip. The ride closings were a bit annoying, but understandable. It was the first day, afterall.

Hope everyone had a great time ;)

I think something was not working right with train three on The Beast. I saw it in the shed after it opened again and all the covers for lap bars with the mechanical parts were all off.

I never saw Delirium down. The crowds were a lot worse then last years opening day. Planet Snoopy brought out a lot of little kids.

Delirium was down around 3pm..maybe 4? Not sure how long it was down, since I went on over to flight deck. Saw a few of you guys from here...but my daughter was in SUCH a big hurry to ride her first BIG coaster, we had to keep walking ;) (It was StalkerChick and some others...sorry I didn't get a chance to say hello!!)

I agree, the crowds were rather large. That coupled with the expected downtime with some major rides that comes with opening day resulted in some lengthy waits. Diamondback was at forty five minutes with a full queue most of the day. But, on the flipside, I also witnessed many long lines for people buying food. So the park was clearly making lots of money today, which is also good.

I waited around 20 mintues for my Blueberry ice cream. So worth it!

im just guessing it was closed because of the cold weather

doubtful, they had WHITE WATER CANYON and CONGO FALLS open today... whos bright idea was that? the line was nonexistant on both, with you having to wait a good minute or two to see a actual boat with people in it (waited to nail people at white water canyon and it took ten minutes to use 2 quarters... it was not cold enough to close anything for that...

It was FREEZING at WWC! I was surprised that anyone rode, but it was mostly people riding several times in a row. As for why that was open and coasters weren't: (assuming the downtime was caused by the weather) coasters have a minimum temperature that they can run at, WWC and Congo (and Flume) don't...well...I guess 32 is a good temperature to stop running those...

What was with The Beast shutting down at 9:45pm for fireworks and not opening up until the all clear after the show. It wasn't until 10:20pm that the trains started back up. Also, have the fireworks been moved to a new location? I will state that it did build up the suspense at The Beast House. The Beast Crew kept us entertained as always. Great Job! The ride was AWESOME! Love the smell of the first tunnel! Memories or great Memories!!!

Just for safety. I talked to a ride op about this standing in line last year being the next person to go then they closed down the ride. He said he thought it was kind of pointless because where they set off the fireworks is pretty far from The Beast.

After we had our "late" ride on The Beast and on our way out of the park at the Rivertown restrooms I recognized my friend, a previous co-worker and Park Policeman from when I worked in '05, and I stated to him that this has got to be a bigger headache waiting to put The Beast to bed because of the delay of the fireworks and waiting for the last riders. He stated that it does take a bit longer as the season progresses into Summer.

This was always how our family ends our day was with Fireworks on The Beast at closing. And, what was with the lights on in the Helex? Bad...Bad Idea!!!
