SML828
I just thought I'd share that PKI has been getting some recognition this week. Some of the actors (Carol, Greg, Marcia, Peter & Cindy) from The Brady Bunch have been at Disney World promoting the new ride there...Anyway, I've seen three different interviews with them and each time they are asked things like "Were you ever at Disney World?" or "Didn't you tape an episode here?" - Every time they have said "No, That was Kings Island in Cincinnati!" They all seemed to REALLY like doing that episode! I just wanted to share!
PKI Homey
It's about time. Now, if Discovery Channel or Travel Channel Learning Channel would do a one hour special on PKI. Will we ever see it? I mean, for God's sake, they had a special on Dollywood. How boring.
SOB_TOM
Yeah, the catch line would be "See the people from PKI Unlimited on TV!" Anyway, I wonder if they would go from first training day to end of season or not. Or just one day. Interesting.
StXBomber
I've seen shows on IoA, CP, SFMM, and Dollywood (ugh), but none on PKI. I think we need to get an online petition going to send to Discovery channel! I mean, PKI is a whole lot bigger than Dollywood!
Losing Streak
You can't really petition a private corporation to make a TV show. I mean sure, make up your petition and all, but what's the point.
bradb055
I have seen PKI on the discovery channel when they did a special on 03 rides. Delium was on first, and had about a 10 min slot. It was quite interesting. Also, when discovery, tlc, or histoy channel does there theme park episodes they frequently vist PKI. Sometimes its just a clip from a coster or ride and sometimes they do a whole 5-10 min segment on it. Unfortunatly they dont show these episodes very often. Keep your eyes open for any episodes on one of these channels and I'll bet you'll be suprised on how many clips of PKI are shown. Although, somtimes they could be showing clips from sister parks, coasters, or rides.
TheRickster
Something had to have happened with Cedar Point and the discovery networks. They havnt been in any of the show's this year. The last new coaster show had 2 main coasters it focused on: Superman ROS (darien lake) and SOB :-D they made sob sound like the best thing in hte world. Including a on-ride interview with a represenetive (maby owner?) of the company that designed the trains for sob. Also included a interview at the park done by The Vortex in hte shaded area with the designer of sob. It also had a pretty decent segment on Drop Zone. coasterrz
The shows to which people are refering to are specials just on one park. I kn ow I`ve seen the SFMM and CP ones. They show things like foodservices, first aid, the communications center, maintenance department, rides operations, behind the scenes areas, etc. I really wish that the Discovery or Travel Channels would do a special like this on PKI. fryler87
i will agree and say pki is one hell of a park and a tv show should be done on it. but im not sure if we all realize exactly how pki stacks up. in my OPINION, pki is one of the best parks in the country. dollywood is a doozie...pki IS better than that, no questions asked. pki has: world's tallest woodie world's fastest woodie world's only looping woodie world's longest woodie tallest gyro-drop in world (i think...) most wooden track at any park (22,612 ft - www.rcdb.com) first launched coaster The Racer (sparked the 2nd generation of coasters) and many other notables.. Cedar Point has many records also (wont get into all of them) and whenever they opened a coaster, it usually blew the hell out of some record - commonly at least one the "big three records" (speed, height and length). pki does deserve some type of tv program. maybe not an hour, but a 30 min. show would do justice. they could even do the history! bradb055
I have seen the shows that are directed to just one park, but the show that I mentioned above showcases all of the featured rides that year. I believe the show is called Thrills, Chills, and Spills. I have not seen the show on in several months. If you go to Discovery Channel.com you can do a search for this show or others similar. Also, I found a fun little coaster builder here. Coaster Builder
Browntggrr
Discovery channel and the Travel Channel ran all the amusement park shows, and rollercoaster shows around Memorial Day, it was almost non-stop, with many repeats. The shows will probably not be back on till next year. You can go toDiscovery Channel and Travel Channel see their lineup. I know that "Worlds Best", and "Secrets" on the Travel Channel had alot of parks, and "Thrills, Chills and Spills" on Discovery had the same thing. There are probably more, I just can't think of them right now. Edited January 1, 1970 by browntggrr
