BoddaH1994 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Stephanie Rogers from Greenfield, Indiana today became the 2,000,000th rider on Diamondback since the steel roller coaster opened in 2009. Quote
Dbfan Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Seems not too long ago Diamondback hit 1,000,000 riders. Its growing up so fast... Quote
dakota2112 Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 ok so I've always wondered... how do they keep track of the number of riders this closely? Does one of the ride ops have to record the number of people onboard every train as it leaves? Quote

And to get the exact 2,000,000th rider, I think they based it on who walked into the station as number 2,000,000. Quote
CoastersRZ Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Well, to be honest, the ride operators don`t necessarily keep track of how many riders there are. Rather, they generally keep track of how many empty seats there are. The ride computer keeps a tally and it deducts the number of empty seats from the tally. Amusement parks keep very detailed logs on capacity, as it impacts staffing forecasts, budgets, and what rides deserve capital improvements. In the case of Holiday World, capacity studies actually played a role in their decision to only use two Timberliners as opposed to three. (It opened with three train PTCs). Quote
trevor75 Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Woohoo I always knew there was a reason I lived near Greenfield, IN! Quote

This has actually been discussed before when it came up in the 5@5 questions.http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20850&st=1140&p=375321entry375321 Quote
