Dieseltech20
"Event is limited to the first 60 fundraisers that register." I wonder how many people are registered?
TylerRider
I registered the day it was first on KICentral. Am I one of the First 60??? They did not say I wasent.
LongliveKingsCobra
I would assume that they take away the "Register Now" option if it was closed. However, they may not. Thus there will lots of confusion at 7:00 am at Kings Island on the 29.... Cobra...not sure if he will even be on the ride
Dieseltech20
Well, I received an email yesterday wanting to know my shirt size. I assume that means I am one of the 60.
TylerRider
Can we e-mail someone about this? Edit- 800 posts!
UnrealNightmare
Michigans Great Adventure, they get to do it on two rides Thunder Hawk, and Shivering Timbers... One word: ouch! Actually this ride doesn't hurt at all. EDIT** I have also talked to Don it's not the first 60 people to register its the top 60 who raise the most money. Purplehaze
From what I took it is the first 60 not to the top 60 fund raisers I did get my info from calling first giving. If there was no limit, the whole population at the park that day would get in free....lol Also not to mention you must raise your minimum $50.00 by the day before. "Coasting For Kids" will take place at Cedar Point, OH; Kings Island, OH; Canada's Wonderland, Ontario, Canada; Dorney Park, PA; Valleyfair, MN; Michigan's Adventure, MI; Kings Dominion, VA; Carowinds, NC; Worlds of Fun, MO; Knott's Berry Farm CA; and California's Great America, CA. Anyone who is interested in participating can go towww.firstgiving.com/gktw, click "register for an event" and pick the park they wish to attend and take part at. All participants must raise at least $50 by Wednesday, July 28 to take part in the event on July 29. Space at each park is limited. To learn more, interested participants can call Give Kids The World at 407.396.1114 ext. 4504 or emaildream@gktw.org or log on to www.gktw.org. edit: so I am not sure what the deal is....lol I know space is limited but if 500 people sign up for KI what do they do, the morning of the event they tell those 60? I mean you have to be there early so I have no clue.
Dieseltech20
It says, "First 60" not the "60 that make the most money". Only thing it says about amounts is for the top 3 amounts from the 60 people. If they let 300 people register and assume they get in, only to tell 240 they are sorry, they will have a mess on their hands. Other parks only have 10 spots so those going to KI are lucky, though KI is one of the only ones NOT providing breakfast, lol.
Purplehaze
When I called they said I made the list. And I believe you are right, a mess it would be.

DaveStroem
What are the rest of you doing to get the word out about this event? I just sent out a press release to my local newspapers and radio stations. I am also putting up a poster on my counter at the shop with a donation jar. I am making up some business cards with the donation website on them so I can hand those out to people that want to donate online.
Purplehaze
FB friends of course plus local flyers in a few stores along with friends working on it at they're work places.
Purplehaze
I am finding it difficult to raise money for this people want to donate a buck or two and that is fine but I came up with a new plan and seemed to get more responses to it with the ability to raise more money. I am having people give me a dollar for every time I ride The Racer that day. kinda like when I was little in school we always did the March of Dimes walks where they gave you so much per mile you walked. So I will ride The Racer as many times possible, I imagine I will need a few weeks to recoop after that day...lol

Dieseltech20
So our firstgiving page needs to have the minimum $50 listed on it? I did that when I opened as I was gonna pay the minimum needed anyways. So we should be good to go.
Purplehaze
Yes you have to raise 50 dollars by Monday in order to participate in the event this is for each person in your family if they signed up also. Dear Donnie, Thank you for registering for Give Kids The World’s Coasting For Kids event at your local Cedar Fair amusement park! Your efforts will help give a dream vacation to children who need it most. We’re getting closer to the event and look forward to seeing you on Thursday, July 29. Here are a couple of reminders-- A minimum of $50 must be raised or donated by Noon (EST) on Monday, July 26 in order to participate. Complimentary park admission, event t-shirt, meal and rights to partake in the coaster marathon will only be given to those raising the minimum $50 by the cut-off date. Many of you have not yet reached the $50 minimum, so be sure to rally your friends, family and co-workers to sponsor you. If you have collected offline donations, please be sure to manually enter them on your FirstGiving fundraising page in order to get them counted towards your fundraising total. Offline donations must be brought to the park on the day of the event, with checks made out to Give Kids The World (no cash, please). Prizes will be awarded to the top three fundraisers at each park – first and second place prizes vary by park and third place fundraisers will receive a GKTW duffel bag with GKTW merchandise. Anyone raising $100 or more will receive a GKTW beverage cooler. Fundraising totals determining prize winners will be pulled at Noon (EST) on Wednesday, July 28. If you haven’t sent us your preferred t-shirt size, please request your size by emailing karad@gktw.org as soon as possible. Thank you again for your support and happy coasting! Dieseltech20
Yes, it is in the Upcoming Visits section. Kinda sparse though, wonder if there will even be 60 people?
Purplehaze
Some parks are only allowing 10 people to do this. I thought they were getting full however when I spoke to Sara the other day she said other wise, so I guess there arn't that many.
