Louisiana: Death at Dixie Landin'

Featured Replies

...According to witnesses, she fell about 30 feet from the "Xtreme" at Blue Bayou Water Park/Dixie Landin' Amusement Park around 4 p.m.

The roller coaster spins as it twists and turns along a steel track.

The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal is investigating the tragedy.

State Fire Marshal Butch Browning said the investigation will take some time.

He said a mechanical inspection is underway and detectives are currently examining the restraint device on the seat Zeno was in.

Inspectors will remain on the scene all week.

Browning said the ride was not damaged and there was no evidence of failure.

Dang, thats terrible. Maybe she was not strapped in all the way? Looking at the picture of her, she is a larger woman, maybe the restraint didnt fit, but she somehow got let on anyway?

I bet they didn't close the empty restraint, causing a Flight Commander-type incident. Knowing that type of restraint, there's nothing keeping someone from sliding over if the empty seat isn't closed.

"It was loose on us, so [the attendant] had to do something special under the seat to try and make it lock on us, because all the other seats they would press the button and it would lock, and they got to ours and it wouldn't lock on us," said Taylor Moore of Lafayette.
