The Interpreter Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 http://www.stamforda...lose-604704.php This would be truly sad...and join so many others I have enjoyed, such as Whalom Park, Williams Grove, Miracle Strip, Pavilion, Old Indiana, LeSourdsville Lake, Libertyland, etc. Quote
PhantomTheater Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Playland is such a classic park with classic rides that one cant find much anymore. The dark rides, Old Mill, Dragon Coaster, and Derby Racer which is better then Cedar Downs IMO. Losing Playland would be a tragedy in the amusement world. Quote
DaveStroem Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 I have read on another site that Rob Astorino has been trying to get rid of Playland for years. The park has landmark status and is on the list of National Historical places. At least 5 of its rides have landmark status as well. I hope that it does not close. In the mean time, it has risen in my priority of parks to go to next year. 1 Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 8, 2010 Author Posted August 8, 2010 And now a Children's Museum is also on the endangered list: http://www.lohud.com...ayland-proposal This seems to be a bit more than the usual "The Government Should Not Run An Amusement Park and Playland Needs to Go" grandstanding that occurs periodically. Times are different, money is much tighter...Make no mistake, the future of Playland is much more murky now than it has been in many a year. Quote
