Kirk Sheppard Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Just tried to board the tower but was told maintenance was working on it. Haven't seen that happen this year yet. Is it common? Quote
CoasterFreak45 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 The other day it was down, I believe. Quote
thatbandguy8807 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 yeah its been down a few times this year... Quote
Purplehaze Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Actually the plates in the earths crust shifted so now it is sinking, at least Vortex is not sinking anymore Quote
thatbandguy8807 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 oh no a new sinking rumor is up and around again lol...I actually forgot about The Vortex rumor for a while because I have finally stopped hearing people talk about it Quote
CedarPointer Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Wrong tower, Purplehaze. It's actually Drop Tower that's sinking, something about it being upside down or something... Quote
Pillsberry123 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 They were going to take out Son of Beast and move Vortex to that spot because The Vortex is sitting on a swamp. That's why they took out The Bat. Trust me my dad owns the park I should know. Quote
Purplehaze Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Your dad might own the park but that is nothing. My dad is the dippin dots guy so I know more than you. We all know the dippin dots guy is the boss of the owner Quote
Plankton Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 My dad is a sandwich artist at Cedar Point, so he knows more than your dads combined. Recently the tower has been leaning like the Leaning Tower of Pisa, so it is closed after the slightest lean until maintenance determines it safe again. Edit: Quote
Pillsberry123 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Maintenance doesn't care if it's safe! They reopened Son of Beast and that's after people fell out and died on the loop! Quote
LongliveKingsCobra Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Well....this thread went in a toatally different way than I thought it would. The only thing I can see is that...no one cared that the tower was down? Quote
Purplehaze Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Of course we care but there is nothing we can do about it. Quote
Purplehaze Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Yes we can. I hear OJ Simpson is not using his lawyers anymore. Quote
Plankton Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 ...can't we sue? Well, the tower was down for the night during my visit last week. I demanded a refund because the fun and only ride was down, but that didn't happen. Maybe I should take a different route; perhaps an organized protest instead. Quote

The only thing I can see is that...no one cared that the tower was down? I cared; I was in fact quite glad that I wasn't in the elevator or up on the top of the tower when it broke! Quote

The only thing I can see is that...no one cared that the tower was down? I cared; I was in fact quite glad that I wasn't in the elevator or up on the top of the tower when it broke! Why not!? So many people here are so convinced that they want to take the stairs on that thing... I know of a few here who would LOVE to be stuck at the top without a working elevator just so they could walk down. Quote
LongliveKingsCobra Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 No Kirk, I knew YOU cared, I mean heck you posted the topic....But really can we sue? Yes we can. I hear OJ Simpson is not using his lawyers anymore. And Lindsey Lohan lost her lawyer LETS SUE! For...1 billion dollers! haha, haha, muhahahahhahahah! Quote

Maybe but not during a heat advisory and not in the kind of physical un-shape I am in. :-) -Kirk, who is staying in the Festhaus because its too hot to be anywhere without A/C. Quote
LongliveKingsCobra Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 ...so...you're just going to sit in the Festhaus and watch Way To Much TV three times? Quote
Kirk Sheppard Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 ...so...you're just going to sit in the Festhaus and watch Way To Much TV three times? Maybe all four. Some people ride Diamondback 3,000 times; I happen to enjoy watching the shows Quote
Purplehaze Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 4 times today. I am glad there are other people who love to watch shows like me. No different than going to KI and ride DB 3 times. Quote
LongliveKingsCobra Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Well yes, I get that. ( ) But what I am asking is, you're not going to head out in between shows catch a ride on something? THen come back? Quote
Kirk Sheppard Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 Well yes, I get that. ( ) But what I am asking is, you're not going to head out in between shows catch a ride on something? THen come back? It depends. I've got my camera and iPad and tripod that all need stored in a locker. I might stay here for the first two shows and then I'll either go watch the ice show or put everything back in the locker and ride Viking Fury or go up on the tower. I'll likely try to catch at least one of the Signed, Sealed, Delivered performances today, too. I've already ridden a few things but I don't fit on many of the coasters and I get motion sick pretty easily. I will definitely get another ride on Congo Falls in before I leave, though, as there's never a line and it cools me off quite well. Quote
Purplehaze Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I would hang with ya if I was there today:) Quote
Kirk Sheppard Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 I would hang with ya if I was there today:) Thanks PurpleHaze! I imagine I would be quite a bore for most people to hang with as I'm quite at peace sitting and watching people go by. Quote
Purplehaze Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 One thing is for sure there are many coaster buffs on these threads which is ok. But as mentioned in many threads there is more to KI than just rides. Shopping, eating, people watching and shows to name a few. I like rides however I spend more time doing the first mentioned items than anything. I love to browse the shops every time I go even if I do not buy. I also do not wait over 30 minutes for any ride at KI. Quote
KIfan1980 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Kirk - I was going to try and look up the show schedule for today as I might swing by later. Can you just post it and save me some trouble please? Quote
Kirk Sheppard Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 Kirk - I was going to try and look up the show schedule for today as I might swing by later. Can you just post it and save me some trouble please? Well, the one on KI's site is wrong anyway. Way Too Much TV is at 12:30, 1:30, 3:00 and 4:00 Signed Sealed Delivered's first show is at 3:30 and I'm not positive on the rest... Down Home Country starts at 5:00, and then I think its 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30. Don't Stop the Music starts at 5:30 and I'm not sure the rest of the times. Ice show is 2:00, 4:00, and 6:00 and it ends on Sunday so you'll want to see it before its over. Quote
XGatorHead 8904 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 ^Thank you so much for letting us know that the ice show ends Sunday! I wasn't aware of that, and it's a great show. I've seen it 3 times (Mrs. Gator and GatorGirl have only seen it twice). Guess where we'll be this weekend! Quote
