Timberliners?

Featured Replies

I was browsing RCDB today and saw a picture of what seems to be Timberliners on another coaster. Go to rcdb.com and search-Grona Lund in Stockholm Sweden. The coaster is the Twister, which is a Gravity Group coaster. Look at picture number 2 and tell me what you guys think. The picture is at the wrong angle, but it does seem to look like the Timberliner that will soon to be on The Voyage.

Sorry for not doing more research, but it is weird to see Timberliners running on that coaster, when The Voyage looks to be at the same stage as Twister. I also see it is to open in 2011, but it seems the Twister is close to being finished since the Timberliner train is testing in that picture.

I am not sure when the trains started testing for The Voyage, but I do recall hearing about it, I guess the end of May, or early June. It seems weird to already see those Timberliners testing on Twister when they are not quite ready for The Voyage.

Do you know when construction started for Twister? Its circuit is finished already and its only September.

from the press release I linked to:

...Construction of the new wooden roller coaster will begin on August 9th and is estimated for completion just in time for the season opening of Gröna Lund in May 2011....

Testing on Voyage's Timberliners began before the beginning of this season if I'm not mistaken.

Is the picture a fake, or am I not getting it? Is it an artist's rendition or what? If the construction started on Aug 9th of this year, they must have one incredible construction crew.

The picture is not a fake...

Is it possible the coaster started construction Aug of 2009? not 2010, this would make more sense, since they are testing the Timberliners

The pictures look like computer generated renderings. Not photographs.

The press release is from 2010. I remember well the day it was announced.

So are you telling me its finished in 7 weeks?(except for testing) It seems impossible.

Nope, found this:

Look at the date.

It is, as KIfan1980 correctly surmised, a computerized simulation. RCDB should have identified it as such. I doubt it is anywhere near completion, even though this is a VERY small coaster, 50 feet high, less than 1600 feet in length.

I was wrong. The pictures ARE fakes! :)

Ki fan 1980, thanks, it must be a computer generated photo. How else could this be?

That second photo looks real(maybe) LOL

Maybe we can close this topic. Sorry to cause such a stir, but the as I said "The second photo looks real"

Fool me, did it not?

It did give us something to do ; ) I would think the concrete footers are the only thing started so far.(I would imagine)

Footings....we don't want to get a mod all riled up! :)

Terp, who's been here quite some time, and likes to be on sound footing...

Goodnight, I am finished with this subject. Thanks everyone and again I'm sorry for causing a stir. T

Don't be sorry...you gave me an opportunity to learn something tonight...and that's always a plus.

Also a big thanks to KIfan1980! Perhaps we should call you Eagle Eye!

EAGLE EYE

Is the picture a fake, or am I not getting it?

The picture is not a fake...

EDIT: But read on...Terp is not right here...it IS a fake!

The funny thing is prior to the edit I thought Terpy was being accurate here - Thunderbeast1968 was not getting it (the other answer to his question), and the picture is not fake (it is a real computer generated picture of the ride, just not a photograph).

Sometimes I guess I read way too much into your posts - I thought you were just having a little fun with TB1968 :)

:)

I would never be that persnickety and almost mean to a person I didn't know extremely well and know they would find it funny! :)

It's a computer aided rendering. Not the real deal! This year is big for TGG since they have three new coasters which are going to run timberliners.

can't forget the AND ... one existing coaster which is going to run timberliners.
