SFNE Fright Fest Fire

Featured Replies

Fake cobwebs draped over an external light fixture was the cause of a fire that prompted the evacuation of the Midnight Manor haunted house attraction at Six Flags New England Saturday night.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, which caused some $5,000 in damage to the structure’s exterior and roof, Fire Department Lt. B.J. Calvi said.

A number of people, Calvi did not know how many, were evacuated from the burning structure. The fire was reported about 8 p.m. and firefighters remained on the scene for over an hour....

Six Flags, Haunt and Fire have to send a shiver up your back when you hear those 3 words together.

^ I know what you mean. I just finished watching that special on Youtube about the old Haunted Castle fire that killed was it six?

No, it was eight.

Fire can happen in any park. Cedar Point has had two this summer, just as one example.

At least Cedar Point and Kings Island have fire departments. Great Adventure did, but just disbanded it...I find it very hard to believe that Al Weber is COO while this is allowed to happen. It is miles and miles to the nearest fire department at Great Adventure...this was an incredibly short-sighted decision, in my opinion:

At SFNE, the fire department is nearby. I can only imagine what might have happened had it not been.

Another reason for parks to stop doing Halloween events! That could have been much much worse than it was. It would have been tragic if the entire attraction would have

burnt down, or worse yet and killed some people! That is the only Houdini ride left, and only one of two of those kinds of rides left. It would be sad to lose that one, too! Hopefully,

they will be able to repair it and have it back operational next year.

Not so, the Houdini at Great Adventure still exists...

As do Dizzy Lizzy's at Idlewild, and HEX at Alton Towers... That's four I can think of off the top of my head.

Raptorguy, fire can and will happen anywhere, it's not limited to Halloween events. Take a look at Terpy's post above yours... CP had two fires this year, neither of them related to anything doing with HalloWeekends. Should they discontinue using storage rooms and working on wood coasters too?

Thankfully no one was hurt with the SFNE fire (and both CP fires for that matter).

Oh, my mistake. Someone on here, who I wont mention told me that the one at Great Adventure had closed down.

Thanks for clearing that up. You'd know for sure, though! ;) I feel a little better about that now.

Great Adventure's was closed for awhile, but then it was decided to operate it from Memorial Day to Labor Day. It actually operated longer than that this year. What will be done next year remains to be seen, as management has changed yet again. A management that can close down Temple of the Tiger (and it has), the fire department (and it has)...may well do anything...it all remains to be seen.
