StXBomber
Guess what I found today... http://www.rcdb.com/installationdetail2516.htm You know that Zamperla flyer PCW was getting? It's Tomb Raider themed. We don't have the only Tomb Raider themed ride. I guess it's called Tomb Raider: A Ride now. fryler87
I can imagine that that'll be the only Zamperla Flyer that Paramount purchases. I've heard those coasters are very rough - I've seen pictures of the apparatus you get put in and those themselves don't look too comfy. Maybe some of the other Paramount Parks will get Tomb Raider-themed rides. Our own ride of this theming seems to be wildly successful with the customers - there's a line every time I visit the park. Maybe Carowinds or Great America will get a Tomb Raider-themed Huss.
crosscountry4891
Yea...i've seen the cars for the Zamperla Flyers and they are really covered up. The b&m flyers are better and more open. http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery1711.htm?Picture=9 Edited January 1, 1970 by AZ Kinda Guy
PKI Homey
Yeah, I read that on screamscape as well. I can't believe they wasted their money on a Zamperla Flyer. It is the ugliest coaster I've ever seen, plus I've heard it gives terrible rides as well.
derbeast
Look at that POS, you guys really want a Flier here in 05?
coasterrz
If it is a B&M flyer, than yes I want a flyer. I however would not want a Zamperla flyer. I don`t even think we will be recieveing a flyer. I think we will be seeing some sort of sit-down, high speed coaster in 2005.
DegenRider
That may not be entirely true. At eastcoaster(an ace convention) They said the ride would have a hollywood theme.
SixFlagsMasta
i don't htink the name is rigth casue there's nothing on the PCW site that states that's the name and the colors just don't go with it.. seafoam green and yellow sound more like a spongebob type ride to me.. i odn't know
StXBomber
DerBeast, I want a B&M flyer (or B&M floorless). Those flyers look like a carnival ride, not a major amusement park ride!
fryler87
Those Zamperlas DO look like the carnival-type. I would hate to ride in a cage like that. Those cages look like they don't even give ANY kind of a real flying experience like the B&M models do.
RyanA
Even if it that is infact the name, we've still got the original and better TRTR. Perhaps TRTR is the "hollywood" theme they meant.
PkiJake13
I go with him^, maybe the Que and station will be themed to Hollywood, or the Tomb Raider set. Jake
RyanA
I just heard a rumor they could be naming it BORG Assimilator, like the new Carowinds Arrow flyer. Wait, this is Canada's Wonderland, and a Zamporla Flyer, why do I care!? Edited January 1, 1970 by RyanA
CoasterKrazy
Vekoma flyer, not Arrow.
RyanA
Whoops, my bad, it is Vekoma.
RyanA
Yeah, it's official. Paramount's Canada's Wonderland will open Canada's only flying coaster, Tomb Raider: The Ride, in May 2004. I for one am very dissapointed in this. They could atleast have called it something different, "The Ride" usually refers to dark ride(Universal uses it quite alot). I suppose pretty soon all of PKI's marketing pamphlets and pictures will go there, much like Scooby's pics went to PKD. Atleast we're the only ones with the TR dark ride, the type of ride TR should be.
SixFlagsMasta
where are you reading that it's official b/c i still don't see it on teh PCW website or anywhere else for that matter. i'm not doubting you i'm just hopeing it's not true. Screwball
It is official, a local member of the media in Toronto went on a winter tour of the park just to show what goes on during the winter. They then teased about the new coaster going in, but wouldn't show and footage or details about the coaster. After talking for a minute or so they went to a seperate segment with video of the coasters construction as well as a interview with the media relations director for PCW. She held up some papers which on the cover had Tomb Raider: The Ride as the name of the ride. She then confirmed the name of the ride, but didn't elaborate on what theming the ride would recieve. Now for my opinion about the ride, I am somewhat disapointed about the Zamperla Volare, but I didn't expect much in terms of a new ride so I won't complain. If I don't like it I just wont ride it, let the general public waste their time on it, so they can stay away from other rides. My major upset about the ride is that the location they put it in they had to remove two flat rides (The Fury, and The Great Whale of China) The Fury is identical to the Monster at PKI, and I love that ride. It's always great to have a nice ride on it early in the morning. Hopefully they move the rides elsewhere in the park, but reports I heard earlier in the winter only have the Great Whale moving within the park and the Fury leaving completely. I am anxious to ride the Volare, but as long as PCW doesn't consider this 'our' big coaster addition I will be satisfied. 2005 is PCW's 25th Anniversary and hopefully they do something major to celebrate it. RyanA
I got confirmation from the park's PR representative. I'm still mad at this, but alteast it's a crappy Zolare, not a costly one of a kind dark ride.

I know your being sarcastic but unless you have experienced a Volare, how can you call it crappy? RyanA
You bring up a good point, but still, it's a Volare. VOLARE. lol. Edited January 1, 1970 by RyanA
SixFlagsMasta
still not seeing any proof of it being named TR:TR. i mean just cause it's on RCDB doesn't PROVE anything
RyanA
It is infact Tomb Raider: The Ride. But don't feel too bad, we have the ride everyone talked about(PKI has a great marketing department)that was everywhere, from gaming magazines to theme park editorials. You may ask how I know it's infact TRTR, well, if you don't believe me, contact the park, you'll get the same response, it's TR. And it will use props from the movie, like ours, but I'm betting it'll be the statues that toured the parks. So maybe they'll change the color scheme of the TRTR insignia to be like Cradle of Life as opposed to ours being Cambodian, reflecting the original TR movie. I'm still not happy about this, but what are you gonna do. I'm just hoping the March anouncement isn't that PKI is going to call BB Crocodile Dundee's Boomerang Bay, it'd be a waste of an anouncement. italianchef
I don't see why so many people are upset that another Paramount park will use the name Tomb Raider. All sister parks are in business together. Getting mad about one having something similar would be like the manager of one Domino's pizza getting angry that the manager of another Domino's franchise will have a similar pizza. I'm glad that other Paramount parks will take advantage of Paramount theming. That means that those of us with season passes can go to the sister parks for free and enjoy awesome rides with cool theming. Have a great day!
