The Interpreter
...And this season, the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County will give a glimpse into the life of the man who brought us Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Lucy and the rest of the Peanuts gang with an exhibit called Inside Peanuts: The Life and Times of Charles M. Schulz."By bringing this exhibit to Cincinnati, we're giving people a unique opportunity to learn the back story behind some of the most beloved enduring characters in cartoon history," says Kate Lawrence, programs and exhibits coordinator for the library. Organized by the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, Calif., the exhibit contains more than 40 reproduction comic strips and preliminary sketches following the development of the Peanuts characters, exploring emotions ranging from friendship and faith to tolerance and disappointment.... Also on display will be strips by cartoonists who influenced Schulz, including George Herriman ("Krazy Kat"), Dayton's Milton Caniff ("Terry and the Pirates," "Steve Canyon") and Elzie C. Segar ("Thimble Theatre Starring Popeye").For 50 years, Schulz researched, wrote, designed and drew each Peanuts strip that appeared in daily and Sunday newspapers, including The Enquirer, which still publishes classic Peanuts strips. Schulz retired in December 1999 and died Feb. 12, 2000, at age 77, just hours before the final Peanuts strip appeared in Sunday papers. When: Monday-Jan. 9, with a Charlie Brown holiday party 2-4 p.m. Dec. 4. Where: Main Library Atrium, Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, 800 Vine St., Downtown. Cost: Free. http://news.cincinna...-Peanuts-artist
CoastersRZ
Sure seems like the Peanuts exhibits are a popular thing right now between the Cincinnati Library and the Louisville Slugger Museum.
The Interpreter
And I truly doubt that would be the case had not a large amusement park (formerly a theme park) not featured said Peanuts in a new land...just in the nick of time! CoastersRZ
That was a very bad pun! It does make sense though. Planet Snoopy sparked interest in this area in the Peanuts gang.
