LongliveKingsCobra
Hello all, well yesterday I booked a weekend vaction to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure! We are going Feb. 18 and returning Feb 21. We have two days at the park 1 for Islands and 1 for Universal. I've been googling all night with different tips and tricks, do any of yall have some tips to get the most out of the two days. My REALLY WANT TO DO LIST is: 1. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter 2. Revenge of the Mummy 3. Rip Ride Rockit or what ever it is 4. Ethos resteraunt I have been there before when I was in 7th grade but don't remeber much and the fact that we didn't even go into Universal, we left a day early. Any tips/tricks/info would be awesome! I've been looking online and it says that Feb. is one of the off months fro the park so hopefully I'll be able to dodge New Years crowds and Spring Break Crowds... So thanks en advance for any advice
Vortex
If you stay at a Universal hotel you get a Express pass. The only place the pass is not good is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. If you can not stay in the Universal hotels you can still buy a pass. Also if you get to Universal at opening MIB and Simpsons are walk ons most of the time. Guest TombraiderTy
Where are you staying? Because if you're staying onsite at one of Universal's three hotels (Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel, Loews Royal Pacific Resort), your room key also acts as Express Pass- meaning you get to "cut" the line at practically every ride in both parks. It's an awesome advantage of being on-site and practically guarantees you get to do everything you want. If you're not staying onsite, you could purchase the Express Pass. Its price varies depending on the time of year, but I'd imagine a $30-$40 cost per day in February. It may not even be necessary then, however. --- Regarding actual attractions and plans and what-not, the basic theme park advice tips still apply for Universal: -Arrive early. Get to the gates prior to park opening and prepare to quickly move to your first attraction once the gates open. You'll be able to do more in the first few hours than you will the rest of the day combined. -Eat at irregular times to avoid the lunch and dinner crowds -Know what you want to do prior to arrival- planning allows for more attractions and more fun --- Your really want to do list is pretty simple. For Potter, just head into Islands of Adventure at opening and go straight for Potter, and once it starts to get too crowded, enjoy the rest of the park. Head back to Potter at the end of the night, get in line for a major attraction then, and end the night by strolling through shop Harry Potter shops. I assume number four was meant to be Mytho's? Just make sure to make a reservation for there sometime while at Islands of Adventure. Finally, at Universal Studios, I'd suggest starting the day with Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rock-It (due to its down-time and low capacity) then moving straight to Mummy- both are popular attractions and should be hit-up early. --- Just some random advice and shinnanigans. I hope you have a great time
thekidd33
I would get to Potter and get in line for the Forbidden Journey very first thing. Dragon's Challenge was never over a 25 minute wait either day I was there last weekend, despite the crazy crowds. The big draw seems to be the shops and the Forbidden Journey, so do these first. Spiderman was the only other attraction at IOA that seemed to keep a line all day. At Universal I would head to Rockit first and then work your way clockwise from there. We got there a little before lunch and the park was all but dead. The only ride with any significant wait all day was Rockit. Hope you have a great time! LongliveKingsCobra
We are staying at Best Westren Orlando Gate blah blah...It was teh cheapest with out flight pakage and stuff. Well thats the basic want list, there is much more that has nothing to do with this post haha. The one thing I do remeber is standing in line is acutally a little bit more tolerable because of all of the theme in the lines. So waiting 40 minutes in Hogwarts castle can't be the worst thing imaginable right? Thanks for all the help! I can't wait...5 weeks is 4 to many haha
thekidd33
The castle is very well themed on the inside...the problem is only about 15% of the line is actually in the castle. The rest winds out into a greenhouse and the grounds around the castle. But if you like people watching there will be plenty to look at!
