The foundation said the funds will be used to help construct a 200,000 square foot addition to house several major exhibits, including a planned Space Gallery where the Air Force hopes to display one of NASA's soon-to-be-retired space shuttle orbiters.

The space shuttle will be in Dayton!

That is a great reason to visit again!

It is far from a done deal that one of the three shuttles will be retired at Wright Patt. One of the shuttles (Discovery) has already been committed to go on display at the National Air and Space Museum at the Smithsonian. The other two shuttles (Atlantis and Endeavor) have yet to find a home. Some people want them to go to Florida and Houston, the locations of the shuttle launches and mission control respectfully. I think it would be awesome if one of the shuttles was retired to the Air Force Museum up at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. NASA is expected to make an decision (and an announcement) on where the shuttles will retire by the end of April.
