March 6, 201115 yr So sad to hear that vandals want to see things burn. Its also sad that this park is still closed. Things like this fire are going to make it more difficult for the park to eventually reopen.
March 7, 201115 yr Author Joyland's Neighbors Don't Feel Safe Anymore: Residents near the abandoned Joyland Amusement Park say they don't feel safe anymore. Now they are calling for something to be done with the property.Officials say an arsonist lit the bathrooms on fire. The flames came dangerously close to the neighboring houses. Residents say they see kids and homeless people there all the time. It's gotten so bad; one resident says she doesn't feel safe in her own backyard. She says the fire is the last straw.... The park closed several years ago. The owners say they are still trying to figure out what to do with the 40 acres it sits on.
