TOPGUN1993
Even funnier Beast- Capacity: 1200 riders per hour http://rcdb.com/67.htm
KIfan1980
There is a thread somewhere here about capacities on rcdb. The Firehawk one is also one of my favorites.
Thrill_Biscuit
I don't care how fast it goes; it's been a thrill every single time I've ever ridden it!
KIanatic1975
I don't care how fast it goes; it's been a thrill every single time I've ever ridden it! And the wait is usually only 10 minutes, so you can get on multiple times.
ParkMake
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it originally went 61mph, but due to wear and tear it only goes 53. I would think, at least with woodies, that coasters without retracking get slower and slower. If noÓ§ne checks it every now and then they'll keep claiming it as 61. The Interpreter
As can be seen from the posts earlier in this thread, the question would be how could such a thing be physically possible? The laws of physics dictate otherwise. Last I checked, those laws had been neither repealed nor amended.
Hendrick
As can be seen from the posts earlier in this thread, the question would be how could such a thing be physically possible? The laws of physics dictate otherwise. Last I checked, those laws had been neither repealed nor amended. There was one video I was watching about Roller Coasters (It may have been The Beast's 25th QTV one), that had something about this very subject. In short, the video said something along the lines of "Free Fall equations do not account for weight, but everyone knows that a heavier train is going to run faster then a lighter one." (I really wish I could find the source of this.) I'm not at all saying the laws of physics are wrong, or that this "mystery" could account for 8mph. I just thought it was something interesting to share.
skaterboy22101
I often hear The Racer ride ops claim it is "the fastest coaster in Coney Mall". If it went 61 MPH, then yes. But as stated before, it doesn't. FoF is faster, Vortex is faster, I'm not very sure about Firehawk though.. FoF & Firehawk are in X-BASE, instead of Coney Mall. That's where you're wrong! X-base is considered part of Coney mall.
m2raptor
I don't know if this is mentioned but if you look here is says that it should go 61 mph. Now remember this is the promotional poster for it. http://rcdb.com/69.htm?p=23074 Also if you are using the calculator that was mentioned on the first page, you would have to be going 8 mph and have a 125 ft drop to get 61 mph. Again assuming that was correct.
LordSkippy
As other members have mentioned in this topic, coaster statistics were slightly exaggerated way back when. Which park would you rather go to, one with a roller coaster 94 feet tall, moving at 61 miles per hour, or one with a coaster 88 feet tall, moving at 53 miles per hour? Though, the discrepencies in the statisticts could be due to the fact that the ride hadn't been built yet.

(Take a look at his other videos too! I don't know how many times I've said it: Read and understand your text books, but try to prove them wrong.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNypTxvOxxQ&feature=channel_video_title
The Interpreter
In my line of work, trying to prove precedent wrong is not always the best course, except when it is.... Well, my line of work for the next 19 working days, anyway... Terp, who sometimes borders on saying too much, but almost never does

Snowman
Wouldn't every trip on every train have a slightly different speed? The weight of every trainload would be different. The temperature of the track would be different. I can see claiming a consistant speed on rides that are completely controlled by motors, but any ride using gravity and inertia as it's motor has got to have variable speeds. Thoughts? If you added a couple more attractions back there and perhaps a place to eat or a little shop, then yes I would have to agree, but with having only two coasters back there in an area that is not very big. Then no, I think it fits perfectly in Coney Mall.
