Holiday World Hotels/Motels

Featured Replies

I'm starting to look for a hotel/motel near Holiday World for Holiwood Nights. I've briefly gone through HW's hotel page, but I'm looking for some experience-backed advice from people who have been there before. I'm looking to go as cheap as possible for 2 nights (Fri/Sat), but I'd also like to be reasonably close to HW. I'm considering the possibility of buying a tent (or digging my old one out of the garage if I can find it) and camping at Lake Rudolph, but I haven't done that since the year I spent in Boy Scouts 12 years ago, so I probably won't do that unless I can't find a decent hotel or motel. Any ideas or advice?

Well, my family was short on money so we went to the Best Western a couple of miles away from Holiday World. It was a very nice hotel with an indoor swimming pool and actually pretty nice rooms. It's even complete with complimentary breakfast buffet (at least I think it was complimentary....)!

I stay at Santas Lodge right down the street. Its convinet to the park and a very nice hotel.

Thanks, but at about $250 for the two nights in question, that looks like it's just a little bit out of my price range.

That might be doable, but it's still pushing my budget. I was looking for more along the lines of a cheap, no-frills motel. I'm hoping to stay under $200 for Friday and Saturday nights (check-in 6/3 and check-out 6/5).

Rates increase as the event draws closer. Those who made reservations upon leaving last year did not pay anything close to the rates you are being quoted. It's no different than buying a season pass...generally, the closer to the time you will use it, the more you will pay.

Well, it was only within the past few days that I realized I had room in my budget for Holiwood Nights. I'll keep that in mind if I decide I want to go back again next year, though.

Oh, really?! I thought it was only about $150 for two nights. I'm sorry to say this then, but it's going to be pretty hard for you to find a decent hotel not too far away from Holiday World under $200.

Maybe it was $150 when you went, but that may have to do with the dates in question or what Terpy mentioned. Just now, their reservation system quoted me $250 for the two nights in question.

There's a Comfort Inn on Interstate 64 (about 7 miles away from Holiday World) which has rates as low as 89 bucks a night.

Thanks, but they're more expensive on the weekend in question: $120 for Friday night, $130 for Saturday night, and another $30 in taxes for a total of $280. Looks like I may be searching for a tent...

Super 8 just south of I64 in Evansville... thats where we stayed last year. Its 40 to 45 minutes from the park.

Have you tried Priceline or any of those websites?

Actually, I hadn't thought of that since I'm not very experienced with traveling. I won't deal with any site that doesn't tell you where you're staying until after you book, but a quick search on Orbitz gave me several options well within my price range. Thanks for the tip.
