Pillsberry123 Posted April 30, 2011 Share Posted April 30, 2011 Well, we didn't stay long. Our main reason for visiting was to get our pass processed, and to get a ride on Diamondback and The Beast. You may have seen me there. I was wearing a leather jacket and was carrying around a camera case. We got there at about 8:30 and got our pass processed with ease. I was worried all week that the line would be 2 hours long, but we walked right up to a booth and got our pictures taken. We waited at the gates, got in, and ran for Diamondback. We were assigned a seat in the middle, which was alright. It felt good to be on a coaster again. After Diamondback, we walked over to The Beast. Walking past the pop machines, soda is 4 dollars a bottle! I think they were less than that last year. Getting on The Beast, we noticed that the music was different, both in the station and on the ride. The ride was extremely squeaky, which I assume is the fact that the wheels weren't greased properly. The newly re-tracked areas are mainly the turns before the second lift hill, and they are noticeably smoother. Unfortunately, The Beast shut down while we were on the final brake run before the station! Before leaving, we went over to check out the "new" Coney Mall. The pictures speak for themselves. It really looks excellent. Hello 2011! With old favorites... ... but there's some thing new here! (For those who didn't know, WindSeeker wasn't open today!) We made it! We made it! Diamondback ran well. Smooth, fast, and full of airtime. Onto my favorite attraction in the park: World's Most Overpriced Soda Machines! Hey wait, there's a coaster back here! I took this while waiting in line. I dig it! Rivertown - 2011 'Dinosaurs Alive! As I was taking this, a woman asked an employee standing nearby "Will this be open today?" Another ride that wasn't open was Vortex, but I left at 10:30 so it may have opened later. The picture everyone wanted to see. Compare it to my avatar! WindSeeker may be new, but it's nowhere near as impressive as BRICKS!!!!!!!!! In all seriousness though, Coney Mall looked fantastic. Well, not bad considering that we only stayed for an hour and a half. My first time visiting on opening day, and I had fun! The vending machines were $3.75 last year. Another ride that wasn't open was Vortex, but I left at 10:30 so it may have opened later. It did indeed open later. Even though I heard a lot of the rides were down, I would've MUCH rather spent my day just walking around the park than sitting here at my computer doing nothing. Of course CP is weekend after next so it will probably be after that.
