Hello!

I am going to be traveling to King's Island at the end of July with some of my family for a vacation. I haven't been there since the 80's, and I was a kid then, and things have definitely changed - both for me, and the park.

I have end stage renal disease and anemia, as well as just recently had surgery on my foot, so I will more than likely need handicapped assistance. We were discussing whether or not to take my scooter with us to the park, which from what I have read online sounds like a big resounding yes, but I did have some questions...

We were thinking of staying at the King's Island Resort and notice they have a bus to transport back and forth to the park. I know that it'd be cheaper to do that, but does anyone know where they drop off at and/or if they transport scooters? Also - does King's Island allow you to bring your own scooter to the park? Do they have handicapped-accessible parking? I know I read somewhere to talk to guest relations once you get there, but if I have no plan on riding any of the rides, so don't need a pass, is there any reason to go there? My enjoyment would come from seeing a kid we are taking with us see his first amusement park.

Also - one of my siblings has Type 1 diabetes and needs insulin. I noticed mentions of metal detectors - I am assuming that you'd be able to bring in a bag for medical supplies (normally we use a small purse)?

For someone who is not going to be going on the rides, is there a lot to do? I am just trying to get prepared for all things and, to be honest, as a kid all you pay attention to are the rides.

Thanks in advance!

I could answer some of your questions:

1- We were thinking of staying at the King's Island Resort and notice they have a bus to transport back and forth to the park. I know that it'd be cheaper to do that, but does anyone know where they drop off at and/or if they transport scooters?

They drop you off at the passenger pick up/drop off area and I think they transport scooters.

2- Also - does King's Island allow you to bring your own scooter to the park?

Again I think yes

3- Do they have handicapped-accessible parking?

Yes, they have a whole section

Just call the park here: 513-754-5700 They should answer the rest of your questions

The number for KI Resort is (513) 398-0115

I forgot to mention that there are live shows, and bunch of other stuff you can do if you are a non-rider.

KI does indeed let you take your own scooter into the park, as I've seen people with scooters that are much nicer than what you can rent at KI.

While the hotel does have free shuttle to and from the park, the passenger drop-off area is a good distance from the entrance (it's right along KI drive about halfway between the south (main) entrance and the rarely-used north entrance), so it might be better for your family to pay the $10 per day to park at KI instead.
