Coney Island Python Coaster

Featured Replies

Hey all! My family is going to Coney Island tomorrow (first visit in three years, and first with my little sister) and I was wondering if the Python coaster is suitable for my sister (Emily). On the website it is listed as 36" w/ adult. Emily is about 37", and is very small. I don't remember much about the ride, but is it rough, scary, fast (in the point of view of a 5 year old)?

I know it's a hard question to answer, but it would be my sister's first tall and fast coaster (if you consider the Great Pumpkin Coaster at KI fast and tall, then it would be her second), and I would love for her to ride it.

Does Emily want to ride it? How does she handle the kiddie at KI? If she's bold, she'll be fine. If not, Python can be a challenge for a little one. Think miniature Adventure Express, but more oval

She loves riding rides. She did not hesitate to ride Kite Eating Tree, Race For Your Life Charlie Brown, or Scrambler...it just depends on how rough the ride is. She is so fragile for her age!

Yes, take Interpreter`s advice. The ride itself isn`t that bad, but that first drop can pack quite a punch. And the braking can be rather abrupt too. The ride also has a very conservative block system. If the train isn`t advanced from the unload area of the station to the load area by the time the other train crosses immediately over the station roof, the ride will set up the blocks, with the other train getting stuck right above the station. The only way for the ride to get unstuck is to have either maintenance or a rides manager come out with a key and unlock the air brake release valve for that brake. That actually happened tonight, when a guest was slow to disembark the train in the unload area.

I actually am the opening rides manager tomorrow, and maybe working all day.
