Top 10 Coasters At SFGAd

Featured Replies

Nitro is second and Kingda Ka is third? I'd think those coasters would be switched....oh well, it is just a matter of opinion.

If the coasters are in ranked order, it's Superman: Ultimate Fight that I find most surprising. That thing (and its siblings at SFGAm and SFOG) cannot hold a candle to Nighthawk, Firehawk and Batwing....or, for that matter, Skull Mountain.

Having recently visited Six Flags Great Adventure a few weeks ago, I thought I`d chime in.

El Toro was awesome. Hands down my favorite coaster in the park. I found Kingda Ka to be rougher than Top Thrill Dragster. And between the two, I`d take Top Thrill`s setting over Kingda Ka`s. You simply have a greater sense of speed with the midway zipping by. Kingda Ka was still a rush though.

While Nitro was a fun ride, I think Diamondback edges it out. The air time going over the first hill in the back of the train on Diamondback is more intense than on Nitro in the back row. I also like Diamondback`s trains better than Nitro`s. The one thing that I did like better on Nitro was the last two or three drops after the spiral and block brakes. I liked the bunny hop jog into the final brakes, and wish Diamondback`s bunny hill by Crypt provided as much air as the bunny hops on Nitro.

Between Superman and Manta, I`d pick Manta. The loading on Superman was brutally slow. They had only two operators checking restraints. We ended up waiting nearly two hours for this one ride. (And we didn`t ride Green Lantern, seeing as how it had a full queue, and none of us are really big fans of Mantis at Cedar Point).

The one coaster that has me puzzled is the author selected Blackbeard`s Treasure Train over Skull Mountain? Granted we did not ride Blackbeard`s Treasure train while we were there, I found the theming and overall ride experience on Skull Mountain to be quite fun. A nice family ride.

Blackbeard's must be experienced to be believed. Not your typical kiddie coaster...intense laterals!

Skull Mountain is best, by far, in the very back row.

We rode it in the front row, and found it to be quite fun even there.

Still, our trip was quite action packed. We went to Hershey, Dorney, and Six Flags Great Adventure on back to back days! We actually left the Cincinnati/Dayton area around 4:30pm on a Thursday, arrived at a hotel in Enola, PA shortly after midnight, spend Friday at Hershey and Dorney. We then drove 2.5 hours to SFGAdv, stayed there until park close, then drove back to our hotel, 2.5 hours from the park. We then left the next morning at 8am for the 8 hour drive back to Ohio. Talk about an exhausting trip! But it was so worth it! I had never been to any of those parks. My favorite ride of the entire trip had to be Dorney`s Whip!
