SoB & FoF constraints

Does anyone here actually like Son of Beast & Flight of Fear's constraints? I'm supposed to grow to be 6'3" & I don't know if I'll be able to fit. I'm already hurting from the squeeze. I almost like Flight of Fear's old harnesses better. Intamin, now those are some good lap bars.

I do miss the way SoB was set up in 2000. In 2001, they raised the floor. I'm pretty sure they want your knees higher than your hips. As far as the shoulder restraints go, I'm glad at least one manufacturer has figured out how to eliminate them, they would be unbearable on Sonny. I do wish they could tub the seats intead of raising the floor, though.

Stephen, are you able to ride SoB? I'd hate to see your knees when you got off the ride...

Shoulder harnesses? Now that's just getting crazy. How 'bout PKI gets some Intamin-style harnesses. Talk about comforable for all sizes.

I LOVE Intamin's lap bars...they're amazing. The best part of them is that they're hydraulic, so they don't snap down more along the ride. They're extremely comfortable and allow lots of leg room.

As for putting these on Sonny and Flight of Fear, don't count on it...I'll make a safe bet and say that if the Island wanted to do this, they would have to purchase new rolling stock from Intamin, since both coasters have Premier rolling stock. I'd be that if the park did replace the rolling stock with Intamin stock, although expensive, it would make the rides more enjoyable than they already are.

Flight of Fear probably wouldn't gain much from new lap bars except for more freedom within the cars. Sonny would REALLY gain by leaps and bounds if Intamin made the park some rolling stock...

Either way...don't count on this happening. I think the Island has more of a chance of getting the world's longest and tallest coaster than getting new stock for Son of Beast and Flight of Fear, or at least replacing the restraints, for that matter.

I'm 6'1" - I can fit in the trains on both rides, but SoB is definitely more of a challenge. FoF is snug, but I think it is the raised floor on SoB that causes me the most problems. Still, I would much rather have lap bars than OTSR's. Yes, my legs often hurt after getting off either ride, but that's a much better trade than the pounding headache I used to get on FoF!

I am 6'6" and I can fit in a rear seat of FoF rather easily. The trick is, to tuck your knees under the lap bar, before you sit down, and then you will fit. I haven't tried SOB since they changed the restraints with the foam and crap. before I could just get my knees under the bar, and get it down, but know IDK. i don't really want to waste time trying to get on something that i have the real possibility of not fitting on.

I am 5'11" and have no problems with SOB or FOF. I rode FOF with the shoulder restraints and it earned its' old moniker Flight of Pain. Terrible head banging, and I'm even into heavy metal. laugh.gif

I'm 5'11 and FoF dosn't hurt me at all but on the other hand SOB rocks the marbles out of me.
