Boomerang Bay

The highly anticipated Crocidile Dundee's Boomerang Bay opens up this year, but is it going to live up to the hype? I know that a lot of the problem with the old waterpark was that it was too spaced out. I recently took a look at the 2004 park map and there was still a lot of space between slides. Do you think that there will be enough change in the waterpark to take away the feeling of having to walk forever to get to the next attraction or will it be just like water works?

I too remember WaterWorks being something of a "cement playground" with slides. Hopefully, the park has taken this into account when they designed Boomerang Bay.

The park map doesn't always show an accurate representation of the layout. If you can't judge a book by its cover, why try to assume things about an amusement park by just looking at the map?

The only way to really see how the park is set up is to either 1) visit the waterpark and actually walk around in it or 2) get a good bird's eye from the Eiffel Tower

Since someone brought it up, how spaced out is BB? From what I saw, Tazmanian Typhoon looked to be much further away from everything. The only vantage point I have had though is from Western Row Rd and Kings Island Dr. I noticed that Tazmanian Typhoon was suprisingly close to the gas Station from my vantage point. Can someone clear this up for me please?

Remember, they didn't completely remove everything and start over.. Things are still going to be just as spaced out as they were before. The presence of the power lines didn't really give the park much of an option what to do in that open space. Taz Typhoon is far away from the other water slides but its close to the wave pool, kids area and Sharky's. Remember, all that open space under and around the power lines is now being used up. Most of the grassy area is now a big pool and the new Jackaroo Landing. A volleyball court was thrown in there and the rest was turned into a big hill.

The whole area doesn't look the same. Won't remind you of the same waterpark it used to be. They still aren't done yet but I can safely say they've done a kick ass job with everything and can't wait for it to open.

I can tell you that things arent as spaced out as they used to be, and that Taz is huge! Its a lot closer than it looks (remember, big objects look big and small objects look tiny from far away) so the look from Western Row is kinda skewed. I wont say that each slide is butting up against each other, but it seems to be nicely spread out.

Things looked pretty well-spaced on that tour in January. Attractions were not too far apart, but not shoehorned together. I would have LOVED another tour, but I guess they wanted to have a high level of anticipation for the May opening.

I was thinking about one thing, though. Jeff showed us a place for smokers to indulge. The smoking lounge, if I remember correctly, will be between Sharky's and the wave pool. Please correct me if my memory is a little foggy here. I'm worried about people leaving this lounge while smoking. If any of you have ever stepped on a "live" cigarette, you know what pain I'm talking about. Does anyone know if there will be a staffer policing the lounge?

Also, I was hoping they'd make the pathways out of a more pourous material...to disperse heat. I now think they're using concrete, but breaking it up, by using giant planters.

I'm confident the new area will LOOK great, with a generous portion of the budget being dedicated to landscaping.

I'll see soon enough I guess...
