The Brady Hotel Stay and 1979 Beast debut Question

1.) I was staying at the KI Resort while the Brady Bunch filmed the famous KI episode. Me - my brother and sister saw Jan and Marsha (Eve and Maureen) smoking poolside all by themselves. (Shocking for us as they were 13 or 14 at the time) We also followed the "Bunch" in the hotel; saw them at dinner and breakfast; etc. Very cool. Got autographs and everything.

2.) I was one of the first 500 people to ride The Beast in 1979. I've been trying to find photos or film of that day from the park. My future wife was also in that line - but we wouldn't meet for another two and a half years. If anyone can point to photos of that day - I'd really appreciate it.

You'd think there were lots of photos and filming done that day as it was the grand opening of The Beast. Haven't found any on line so far.

Do you know what room their scenes were filmed in? Do you know if they actually stayed at the resort or if they just shot scenes there? Do you know if it was the same room that the Partridge Family episode was filmed in? This is really cool. I've always had fun at the KI resort, even though it's a bit dated.

Yes - the whole crew stayed in the hotel. Several different rooms. We watched them eat dinner through the slit in the doorway that is in the lobby that separates the dining area. They were sitting at a huge table that was filled. We took turns peaking through at them. The poolside smoking thing was awesome. We had just arrived from Grove City, Ohio and it was around dusk - so it was around 8pm I'm guessing and Jan and marsha were in bathing suits all by themselves smoking cigarettes. It is too bad we were so frightened of their celebrity status that we hid in the bushes and yelled out "Jan and Marsha are smoking cigarettes, Jan and Marsha are smoking cigarettes". What I would give to turn back the clock and and simply walk up to them and say hello. (Hey - maybe there is a short story I could write about that:-)

We saw Greg and his mother along with Eve and her mother the following morning at breakfast. My sister - Dana - got up the nerve to ask for Eve's Plumb's autograph - but we left it on the table.

I believe that in Greg's book (Barry Williams) he mentions kids running down the hall way and chasing them. That was me and my brother and sister. Frankly - I didn't see anyone else acting like idiots except us three ;-)

That was one of the few family vacations we ever took together - and it was special because of The Brady Bunch. Not sure why we were down there - I think my dad got tickets and may have been attending some kind of convention. It was a blast.

I'd really like to see some photos of the opening of The Beast. My wife and I were there in line - and I met her over two years later in Waverly, Ohio at a radio station. I'm wondering if we passed each other in that line on that day in April - 1979.

Are you sure your dad wasn't there to present plans to KI for a new area of the park? A counter-proposal to Mr. Brady's, perhaps? I'm sure KI would have consulted a few different firms, not just one. Was your dad carrying any long, cylindrical tubes around the park?

I've been wanting to comment on this topic for a few days...what a neat story! So, here on KIC we have someone that was in the park that day, and in the hotel! I'm really jealous...too bad there weren't cell phones back then...we might have a video now!
