If your dad likes to fish there's several state parks and rivers he could go fish in, just be careful and leave the manatees alone cause they're protected. There's some nice state parks east and northeast of Orlando like Wekiwa Springs, though some of them are about 30 minute drive away but I say they are all worth looking into.

Well, there are plenty of lakes around Orlando... I bet a couple have fish in them :) sorry to hear about the sudden jolt in everything. I've been there, as my parents split up when I was younger, and know how hard it can be on all parties involved, . Keep your head up.

No advice on Universal, but wanted to say I'm sorry to hear the news of the divorce - and will give you some advice on that. Please ensure you find someone - counselor, mentor, teacher, priest, etc.. that you can talk to about what is going on. It's going to be a major change for you and emotional so having someone outside the situation focused on supporting you will be valuable. Good luck!

Remember where you parked. The parking garage at Universal is insane. Don't ask the associates at Discovery Cove/Sea World how often the animatronic whales need to be painted. ( not joking ) That question is the worst.

I think that the updating going on on Spider-Man is ongoing and shouldn't interfere with the ride's operation too much. My understanding is that it's new, re-animated, HD scenes (which are produced elsewhere and pretty effortlessly switched over, if DarKastle is any indication) shouldn't close the ride. It's probably just the installation of new projection equipment and test-and-adjust that might get in the way, but they've already updated two scenes or something, so I don't think it's a close-for-three-months type of upgrade. You could always contact the resort. They're great at answering questions.

FYI..."Spiderman" is scheduled to go down for its rehab on February 8th until sometime in early March. I emailed Universal to confirm (after reading it on Screamscape) and they confirmed that its scheduled to be down during my visit (02/15-17) :-(

:( That does make sense though, since the ride itself is actually being reprogrammed to fit the new footage, which would require a lot more testing and adjusting. But you've still got plenty of A+ rides at that resort.

^ yeah...and it's not like I haven't ridden Spidey a bunch of times (still, it's one of my favs though...) On the upside, I have heard that Dudley Do-Right should be open then...it's been closed on my last few trips to Universal.

Has anyone heard an opening date for "Hollywood Drive-In Golf" (the new putt-putt course) at CityWalk? Most of the stuff I've found online says an opening date of "February"...just wondering if it might be open (at least a soft opening anyway) for my trip 02/15-17.

The only official announcement from Universal just states February. I'm a little upset that the new despicable me minion mayham will not be open when I attend in May, but that, along with Antarctica at Sea World, only give me reason to visit in another year or two.
