nhimes90
This is my first time ever posting a trip report, so here goes nothing....... I met my friend at 8:30 and we arrived at the park right around 8:45. We got up to the gate right before 9:00. We only waited a few minutes, they played the national anthem, then we entered the park. (A few notes: the front gate seems so open now that the metal detectors are gone. I like it a lot. Also they only let the gold pass holders in the park until 9:45, then they allow everyone in. I know before they let everyone cattle up right inside the gate and it got really crowded. The way they did it today seemed to flow very well.) After we got inside we decided to go to Invertigo first. The paint job looks amazing, it really makes the coaster pop. They also have music in the station now. It was a very much needed "sprucing" up. After Invertigo we went towards Planet Snoopy. We rode Boo Blasters a few times. (We both are kids inside.) After that we hit up Diamondback. Line was only 5 minutes or so. After we got off we decieded to try the new Cheese-steaks from Snake Pit. They were pretty good, a little buttery, but good. While we were eating the clock struck 10:00 then the crowds came running. We finished up then headed for Beast. Line wasn't long, but it took forever. After Beast we headed over to Vortex and rode that. The line was right outside (where the steps start). It only took about 5 minutes to get through. We then headed to FOF. They seemed to do a lot of upkeep this off-season. A lot of the lights have been fixed. Also there is a cool new effect in the launch tunnel. When we got out it began to rain, so we went to Festhaus and waited it out. When it stopped we went and hit up Flight Deck and Delrium. We headed back to Coney after and rode Adventure Express and Racer. (Adventure Express looks awful. Very few of the thematic elements work at all. Only a few lights work on the entire ride. It is in a very sad state. Also on The Racer they now stop you right before the ramp into the station, because that's where the Fast Pass line joins in. Once you get up to the station it is very crowded. They removed part of the fence that seperated the two sides. Not the best idea.) After Racer we walked around for a bit and got some Ice Cream. Then we left around 4:30. A few more things I noticed: Almost every coaster now has a seperator of some sort. Beast Diamondback, Fof, Racer, and Advernture Express all had them It made the stations a lot less crowded. Except for Racer. Also I did notice some food prices had gone down! All together it was a good opening day. (besides the rain) Edit: I forgot to metion the Crypt. The cover-up for this ride is sad. The basically hung a black sheet over the sign and put a photo cart right in the front of the line. Very pathetic looking. Just thought I would throw that in. Thanks for reading. bkroz
Sounds like the increased ERT was successful! Great to hear about the work that went on during the off-season, and if the new effects in Flight of Fear were the same lasers and light-replacement we saw during Haunt 2011, then I'm thrilled they're still around. Thanks!
BB1
I noticed that also, the CE in the AE has been slowly but surely delapitating in the last years...

windshawne
I only did DB twice, troika and Beast-and let me say, this is the first time in several years I have not had my neck snap going into the helix. All the track work done in the offseason was awesome. Well done guys. I had Panda and it was good as always-and from what I hear the food quality is much improved elsewhere. Several repairs have been made, noticeably new fencing around preferred, and several simple, but needed, repairs like that. I had to work most of the day, so didn't see everything, but what I did see was great. Overall, I am very pleased with what I have seen this year. The Interpreter
Buying a cheesesteak before 10! Letting guests spend money! Someone gets it! Thanks for the great report.
LongLiveTheSmurfRide
I have to disagree with the Adventure Express sentiments. I rode it at night and it seemed like everything was working. In fact, this is the first time in years that I can recall all of the guys in the "epic finale" having working arms. There was one dude on the left whose arm hadn't moved since I can't remember when. I thought he had lost all feeling in it, but now it's going strong.

Diamondbacker
Good report! I just wish someone had a picture of the Crypt cover-up. That's just too sad.
