June 17, 201214 yr Thank you for sharing the story. I kind of thought at first, that it sold for 5,000 dollars, sounded fishy. I mean I could to afford to own it. I know, there are many others monies that need to be raised to dismantled and pieces properly marked for reassembly, moved, then rebuilt and so on. But only 5gs Wow!! I would love to see this go to a smaller park that needs a good coaster, and a nostalgic look and feel. Dollywood comes to mind.
June 17, 201214 yr We should all raise money to save the Big Dipper! In all seriousness, the Big Dipper was really fun. I went to Geauga Lake once with my family, and I remember marathoning the Big Dipper over and over and over and over again with my sister. That was the only memory I have of Geauga Lake, other than walking across the lake on a wooden walkway (I have no idea when this was--could've been under SIX, Premier, or FUN. I don't know!). I hope someone can breathe life into it again, it's a classic and iconic roller coaster with many memories.
