Linda Abraham-Silver, president and chief executive officer of the Great Lakes Science Center since 2004, announced her resignation Thursday.

Abraham-Silver cited family health concerns as the reason for her resignation, which was unexpected despite her having spent most of her time since January 2011 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, said Paul Clark, chairman of the board of directors.

Our family used to go to the great lake science center all the time. But we have converted to cosi.
