Kings Island Weather

It's finally time for my first KI trip of the season! I'm heading up with a few friends Monday. The weather isn't looking too great. 40% chance of rain, thunderstorms, 79 degrees, 15mph. So not as bad as it could be, but still. We splurged with the Fast Lane plus passes because we got them last year and loved it. So I'm hoping the day doesn't get totally rained out and we wasted 50 bucks. Is it likely many rides would be closed down? At what conditions will certain rides be shut down? I just hope for an enjoyable day with many rides because its unlikely I'll be able to make it out again this season except maybe one more time, as I don't live very close by and it's expensive for me with gas, tickets, Fast Lane, foods.

Well, 40% chance of rain doesn't sound too bad and remember, especially having Fast Lane for the day, to get a few rides in on the worlds longest wooden roller coaster. If it does start raining, the best place to go is to Diamondback not only because some people wont stand in the line while its raining but also because Diamondback is a very extreme ride in rain, or downpour for that matter :)

The rain was quite heavy early today.

When it slowed to just above a drizzle, Beast, DB, Racer, were all operating 100% (only 1 side on Racer). When the rain pretty much stopped, everything was operating very well and at 100% (except only one side on Racer which still was sending out less than full trains.)

There was zero need for Fast Lane today. Longest wait was 45 minutes for FoF during the heaviest rain. Once the rain stopped, everything was almost a walk-on except FoF (20 min) & FH (30). Much marathoning was going on if there were no guests waiting for a specific car (Beast, FD, Racer)

I'll hopefully be out there for my first trip of the season on Monday afternoon as well. The times I have been out there caught in the rain before, things weren't closed down for long (or at all), providing it wasn't an absolute downpour or a storm blew in. I had some interesting rides on Delirium in the rain one year!

Just saw where it has changed to 60% chance if thunderstorms. Looks like it may be a total waste of money on the Fast Lane passes. Maybe a waste of time too. Darn it, I was so excited, what a bust. Probably the only time I'll make it to the park this season too.

If it clears up (which it most likely will), you won't have to wait very long and can hit up most, if not all, the rides in the park very quickly. If not, you can use your Fast Lane to marathon Flight of Fear!

Scenarios like these are the reason why I do not recommend buying Fast Lane in advance.

^^ NWS says that rain and storms will be mainly from 9am-11am, with otherwise partly sunny skies. There's a 40% chance that there will be no rain at all at Kings Island.

Fast Lane almost certainly won't be necessary to ride everything more than once, but that doesn't mean it will be a waste of money. Even when waits are minimal, you can spend a significant chunk of your day in standby lines.

You definitely shouldn't declare this day a bust before it has even happened! Go and have a good time!

PKIVortex, I think so too, unless being a Saturday in June/July when the park is packed you may want to buy them a day or two in advanced. I know once last year my group got them at the park, but we met some friends who got there a little later and weren't able to purchase them because they were sold out. I also remember waiting in the Fast Lane line for almost 30 minutes for DB.

And the forecast will probably change again before Monday arrives. There have been days we've gone when it was supposed to be horrible weather-wise but it ended up being really nice. It may rain the first half of the day and then clear off and be beautiful.

Ive gone several times when it stormed, its the best time to go. Most of the time it seems if it storms and keeps up for more than a half hour a large amount of people seem to say forget it and leave then when the open rides again its not very crowded, several times it turned into walk-on city

I try to go on days just like Mondays forecast. Storms for half the day that clear up late afternoon or early evening. Most everything will probably be less than 15 minute wait if not just walk on as long as the rain doesn't end too early. Sure Fast Lane probably won't be necessary but you're pretty much guaranteed not to have to wait in line at all. Except for food maybe.

Now it's supposed to storm before 1pm! I guess the weather is really unknown until Monday! I'll just have to wait and see. I wish we wouldn't have wasted money on the fast lanes now, as it probably won't be very crowded. But just in case there is a line, we won't be waiting! Still anticipating the day! Gonna ride as much as possible!
