Cedar Point & Lake Erie Railroad

Featured Replies

Not a lot of people know about the CP&LE RR, now your going to hear about it. Established in 1963 by George Roose president of the park. the railroad has been steaming for 50 years now. they are still running on coal. They have a total of 6 engines, 4 are operable and 1 is getting restored and the other is a display in frontier town. This railroad and Kings Island are my favorite Cedar Fair parks. :D

Welcome to KIC CP&LERR Fan! You seem to be quite the amusement park railroad fan.

Yes I am a fan of Cedar Fair parks, also roller-coasters. I see you are a fan of The Beast. Whenever I went to Kings Island I used to ride The Beastie. But I also heard The Beast would give you whiplash! LOL

Welcome to KIC, I too like trains, in a way. Although I do like the Magic Kingdom trains, I always did like the layout and where it went. I see that you also like the KI&MVRR as well, an excellent locomotive there personally is the blue train.

#44 Judy K. 2-4-0-operational

#22 Myron H.2-4-0-operational

#4 George R. 2-4-0-operational

#3 Albert 2-6-0-display

#1 Davenport 2-4-0-operational

the sixth I don't know any info about.

There were originally two locomotives: Albert which is now a display and Maul D. Which is now Ward Kimbal at Disney Land. They traded Maul in for a larger locomotive: Davenport. Davenport had some troubles mainly because of its large cab which was later shortend at Knotts. Also, Jennie K. another old engine is currently at Knotts getting restored. Years after the CP&LE debuted, they needed another engine and so Myron was brought along the CP&LE. Then came along a 0-4-0 named Victoria now known as George. Then came along Judy K.

Wow you know a lot. a couple things to correct Her name was Maud L . Engine number 6 is the Jennie K acquired I want to say 1967 she ran until 1980 and had problems with her firebox and is being restored at Knott's Berry farm. They also have a Plymouth switcher used to pull broken trains and track work maintenance. The George R is only used when either the Judy or Myron is getting their boilers washed due to the George still having its original 1942 riveted boiler.

Yep! Also if I'm not mistaken, isn't Davenport just a seasonal engine or just a back up engine like George?

More of a backup engine because the Myron and Judy are the main engines used.

Here are two of my favorite engines there.

E3c.gif #4 George R

Also the Myron H which is my profile picture.

The weekend June 22-23 in a few days Cedar Point has a CP & LE Railroad 50th Anniversary celebration.

I think they are offering tours of the engine house and are giving out special pins.

Recent updates, Myrons Three chime powell is off and fixed due to it leaking to much steam. Now he has a temporary single chime Lunk which was Judy's in 2011. Judys south African three chime was leaking to much steam and now fixed but has some type of three chime whistle.
