shark6495
Double post: I actually saw them do this assigning again on Adventure Express. Why can't they pulse the lines like they do at Universal Studios where you join the line before the seat selection and you just pick where you want to go Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
PKIVortex
I hate the whole assigned seats thing. I always ride in the back car on all of the coasters, not necessarily the back seat, just the back car. For The Racer and The Beast I like the back middle, Vortex, The Bat and Adventure Express Last car first row. Usually when you ask they will let you go where you please.
Magenta Lizard
Toward the end of a long hot day once this season, I was riding Adventure Express as my last ride on my way back to my car to leave. The young man controlling the line was not only assigning seats on the half-empty train, he told me to pair up with the third of a group of three other women. It was the first time that day I had been assigned next to anyone (except even rows on Diamondback), and I was just too sweaty and tired to deal with it. I wasn't inflicting my sweaty self on a stranger in those small seats for absolutely no good reason. If the ride op hadn't finally relented with me negotiating for riding in the back (back two cars were entirely empty other than me) where I wanted to anyway, I was fully prepared to walk through and out.
PKIVortex
The other thing that annoys me about assigned seats is they are still empty rows. I do not mind the whole crowed control thing but just let the line go. And then cut it off when the station has a few groups of people waiting in the stalls. Most General Public will go to the empty rows anyway. At least what I have observed.
thegajone
Amen. I don't mind assigned seating as long as 2 conditions are met: 1. it has been observed by ride ops that pulsing the line results in the GP allowing empty rows and seats to leave the station too frequently, and 2. assigning seats results in full trains leaving the station regularly. Otherwise I get pretty annoyed with the concept. I honestly think that pulsing results in trains being at least as full if not more full than seat assigning, but I don't work there so I could be wrong.
thedevariouseffect
Fill the station and pack the queues. If there are empty spots let the ops on platform call for single riders or a group of two. It does work, as clearly done in a park up north. Also the ride at crowd should be able to assess the ride and make sure each train is being loaded as efficiently as possible. It's not rocket science guys.
shark6495
My buddy and I were in line for Banshee. The ride op assigning seats told us to wait as he didnt know where to put the two of us. Someone in the front row yelled they needed two (customer). My buddy and I signaled that we would join. The ride op said no at first. The as the train pulled into the station told the train to hold while he pushed us to the front row.... It wouldnt be that difficult to merge the Fast Lane passers with the normal queue line since its just a changing of gates. You could put the op incharge of gate control back at the part. Then keep the queue house full. I have no problem with the FL people getting in ahead of everyone. My problem is that they stop the entire general line while the train is pulling in and there is open spots.
