Beastfreak
Today, June 12th, marks Bubba Gump's as officially being open. The park invited members of the media to enjoy a completmentary meal and beverage from the bar. I was not invited to this event since I'm not in the media. I just happened to be sitting at home and got a craving for some shrimp, so I headed to the park. When I got to Bubba Gump's, I ran into a certain person in marketing who considered me enough of a VIP to grace me with a complementary meal and drink with the media. Score! I picked up the "Shrimp Po' Boy Sandwich", which is their beerbattered shrimp on a toasted bun with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and I think tarter sauce served with fries and cole slaw. Since the sandwich is made right there infront of you, you can leave any of those things off if you choose. I'll have to say they did a great job with chosing the menu. The sandwich was great, even though some of the shrimp kept falling out. They just made for great finger food after the sandwich was done. Since I was there and the park was basically dead since it rained most of the day, I decided to ride some rides as well. Started off with Adventure Express. A full train was departing just as I got there leaving only me in the queue lines. I though, "Score, I'm going to ride alone", then some little bratty girls came and rode infront of me. Still a great little ride, even after having a just stuffed yourself and chugged a beer. I headed up to Action Zone and was going to hit Delirium cause I saw they weren't using any of the queue lines. However, something about seeing the workers spraying off almost one whole side of the ride with a hose and the female worker freaking out cause there was still puke on one seat just freaked me out. Plus it looked like they would be cleaning it for a while. So I headed to Drop Zone for my first ride of the season. (Insane, I know. I've ridden just about everything else mutliple times this year and it, not even once) Short line again, only had to wait for the current load to go then I was on. I love listening to hicks fall at 60 mph. Since I had not yet been on SOB with the new restraints I headed over there and walked right on to the front seat of the train pulling in. Some kid was there and asked to ride with me so I let him come along. I figured he wouldn't bite. He held on to that lap bar with dear life. It was great. I really forgot the padding had been put onto the lapbars during that ride. I didn't get banged around too much. We got back and there was basically no one in line so I jumped in a front seat of a middle train. Let me tell you, I was quickly reminded that the padding was put in place and I was thanking the park every bit for it. I would have come off bruised as can be if it weren't for them. I guess with the rain the track was a little more slick. Those two rides were some of the fastest rides I've ever had on that coaster, even though the trains were basically empty. Finally before I left I hoped on Delirium. The crew was going really slow, and were not letting people into the "pre-load zone" until the ride had almost finished and people were about to get off. Plus, like normal, the guests don't listen to the ride op who gives them a seat number and sits where ever they want. I saw this coming and since I was alone and had to put my sandels in the bins I just waited till everyone was seated to choose my seat. Its been three weeks since I've riden cause I haven't had time, but it was every bit as good as always. I just love seeing the park upside down. Before leaving I had to use the bathroom. Just as I walk in I hear some hick dad say to his son, "No need to wash your hand in a place like this" as he was walking out. I was sorta apalled, but it was still a humorous thing for me before I left.
italianchef
Thanks for the description of Bubba-Gump Shrimp Shack. If I was at the park and I ran into that "certain person in marketing" I probably would've gotten the same VIP treatment. I've been invited to other media functions (including media day in April) but not this one. They must know I don't like seafood and don't get enough vacation days from work. I'm taking Mrs. Chef to Bubba Gump this Saturday because she loves seafood and we'll see the shows that we've been waiting for. I hope that it doesn't rain. And I can't wait to ride The Beast. StXBomber
This saturday as in tomorrow? If you are, LOOK FOR ME! I am working all day. Also, how were you considered VIP enough to get in? I'm guessing I know who this certain person is, but PM me with who it was so I'm sure (still haven't seen him at the park, always looking). italianchef
Those hicks frighten me! Seriously, haven't they ever heard of hygene? As most of you may have observed by now, I try NOT to offend people. I don't insult folks for being the member of any ethnic, religious, or cultural (eg. hick/red neck, gambler, smoker, etc.) groups. I am NOT PC - I simply rather call a spade a spade as an individual than attack an entire demographic group. I try to be open minded and polite to everyone. However, hygeine is where I draw the line. As a chef (though amateur) I know to always wash my hands for at least 20 seconds scrubbing in warm water. I always wash my hands after using the bathroom, before and after eating and cooking, shaking people's hands, etc. I always wash meat and vegetables and wrap them up in plastic when leaving them in the refrigerator. And as clean as I am.......I fell victim to Ecoli food poisoning when I lived in Asia. Hey I am NOT blaming Asians as it can happen anywhere and I am the husband of a Japanese woman. However, I am just stating that someone else probably didn't observe good hygeine in one of the restaurants that I dined at and I got VERY sick. I lost 30 pounds in a few weeks, had diarrhea up to 20 times a day for several weeks, - and I was always under weight to begin with. My point is..............PLEASE PEOPLE WASH YOUR HANDS!!!! It is important for you and for society. Sincerely, Italian Chef Edited January 1, 1970 by italianchef
Aaron
Thanks for the inciteful, yet strangely disturbing, thought ItalianChef!

Tek
This saturday as in tomorrow? If you are, LOOK FOR ME! I am working all day. Also, how were you considered VIP enough to get in? Charles, My nametag says "Brad", I normally work at FoF or Zephyr, and I look like Harry Potter Was you working this past Thursday cause I thought I saw you on FOF. It was about the middle of the day and you kept checking your watch. I was going to say hi when I got in the coaster, but you was gone. Then I thought I saw you again on Zephyr on Friday but wasnt sure. I thought the nametag said Matt. I happened to stroll thru the Shrimp Shack during Media Day and noticed Spongebob there so I posed for a quick photo, then spongebob turned around and wacked me upside my head with his own head. As we started to leave I saw Forrest Gump so we posed for a picture with him. I snapped alot of great pictures and will have them up as soon as possible. StXBomber
My nametag says Brad. And it probably was me, cause when its getting close to my break time, I check my watch non-stop. And if it's true that I was gone by the time you got in the train, then it was most likely the case. Also, I saw our very own ItalianChef! I can now say I checked his restraint, and asked if there was any money in his bag (standard procedure). Thanks for stopping by Charles! It made my morning! Hopefully next time we'll have a few minutes to talk. Saturday was interesting because only 2 out of 4 people in my party showed up as my wife and my best friend's girlfriend got sick. My wife felt better the next day so I took her to the park but didn't have time to ride FoF. Charles
