Hi everyone, it's TombRaiderFTW. I've contacted Dane about this, but I'd like to draw attention to it here in case this happens to anyone else. I haven't heard back from him yet:
 
After my last post on the TombRaiderFTW account on July 4th (which was this post in the SeaWorld 2016 thread, I think), I went offline for a while. When I came back on, I no longer had access to PM's and could not post. Attempting to post would return a "[#103126] You have been restricted from posting on this community" error. If I attempted to access my profile (either from clicking my username on a post on mobile or by using the "My Profile" link on the computer), I would get "[#10246.1] This member is no longer active." At least for me in this account, it also isn't possible for me to click on my username beside any TombRaiderFTW posts--it's plain text instead of a hyperlink. At least on mobile, TombRaiderFTW no longer appears in the "Members" list... but I still have the ability to log into that account on both mobile and computer. The only thing I could possibly access to communicate on here was my signature settings, which is why my TombRaiderFTW signature is now a desperate plea for someone to start a thread about this. I have wiped all cookies and stored data for sites from my computer, but nothing has changed.

 

My member group still says "Members" instead of "Banned," and, to the best of my knowledge, I haven't violated the TOS. (If I have and haven't realized it, I apologize for being that knucklehead who did something wrong and made a second account to gripe about being banned! Please feel free to contact me privately to let me know what I did wrong. Whatever it is, I sincerely apologize for what I did--it's never my intent to detract from this community. I'll serve whatever sentence I've earned.) This isn't how I imagine being banned works--I would think my member group would change, but I would still show up in the member list. Likewise, if the account was deleted, I would think my avatar would disappear beside my posts and my username would become "guest_TombRaiderFTW" (or something similar)... but it's still there. It's a bizarre point somewhere between those two points, which leads me to believe this is a forum error. Either that, or Boddah or Dane have it out for me?

 

Has anyone else experienced this?

I had same thing happen to me, was dtk1378, and as some may know was dtk1376 before that when my account magically got deleted for no reason. I enjoy the community but I hope I don't have to start from scratch all over again for a 2nd time.

Try changing and re-verifying your email address. Depending on the permissions configuration, this sort of thing could happen if it thinks your email address is not confirmed.

I guess I know which thread I am staying out of! haha Seriously though, I hope you get access soon so you don't have to start all over. I'm guessing you can be taken off of the blocked list and placed on the active list again!

Sorry to disappoint, but it's going to take more than a forum glitch to get rid of me.

I'm right there with you. I have a lot of PM's on that account that I don't want to lose. I can't find any way to access them.

No dice. Still gives me the same issues as before. 

Same here, re-activation did not help.

I have been at the lake all weekend and thus no signal or Internet. I'll look into this as soon as I get done unpacking and cleaning everything.

Both of your accounts were flagged as spam for review. During review it freezes your accounts. I have unflagged your accounts and your good to go.

I wonder what caused the accounts to be flagged?

This is just a guess based on a similar thing that occurred on YouTube a while ago. I don't know if this is how this forum works, just speculating. Correct me if I'm wrong.

 

Anyone can hit that Report button on any post, even if it does not in any way violate TOS. A couple years back, there was a group of no-goodniks who were flagging videos on peoples' YouTube channels for "copyright violations" (though there were none) so that they could get prominent accounts banned. Of course, the issue was resolved eventually,  accounts were reinstated, and the reporting system dramatically changed.

 

Any old punk with an internet connection could anonymously troll websites and just start reporting content for the laughs. This site would be no different I assume. Not saying that that's what happened, just recalling a similar event on a different site.

I've actually been dealing with a hacking issue with my email since around the time all this started. I wonder if my account here was affected. Someone was attempting to use my email for spam--I got oodles of "failed email" emails from my email provider saying that I was trying to email people all over the world.

We subscribe to Invisions Spam monitoring service so outside of KIC spamming will automatically freeze your account.
