MaestroJr
Your right BoddaH1994 they weren't ment to be outside though I wish they would display the cannon or mummy or gargoyle, maybe even the centurion the ones that weren't animatronics but rather stone figures. And no Italian Job 2005 the ride didn't stop at all, and yes the kid had to run back to his car but he jumped right in.
Tanna
Now I remember the Pepper's Ghost scene. It had been so long since I've recalled Phantom Theatre. I do recall that when the mummy(?) leaned out towards the car, there was a putrid odor that made me actually dour, thinking I'd have to check the kid next to me for soilment when we got out of the ride.
KIghostguy
I also heard that a blast of cold air would come out as well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Tanna
It always seemed clammy inside the ride. People came in from the heat of the day, usually with kids grabbing the adult as they rode. The body heat combined with a cool, enclosed building wasn't the most refreshing thing, as there was cool air beyond the gondola, but it wasn't refreshing, like the Coke mists. It had the ozone/fear smell in it anyway; of machines working mixed with human odor. Classic theme park smell. (Of course, except for the Mummy, that went beyond human.) The cartoony look of the ghosts helped, but I think as kids expected it to be frightening, they would get scared, and radiate heat the same as we would after a vivid nightmare, and cling to the adult. Plus, when riding, as they were expecting frights, they would crane around, trying to see as far behind them as could, given that the gondola was canopied. They would pull you with them as they tried to look. It wasn't the most comfortable ride in KI, but the kids liked it enough to return to it. As they got older, especially after they'd seen me make monsters, they looked at the artwork and effects more.
MaestroJr
Yes, Phantom unlike Boo Blasters was full of great visial effects as well as a well themed story. And I remember it as very cold and had and still has a very unique smell to it. They would be wise to bring something similar to it back. As most of us who enjoyed Phantom and also some of the kids that I hear in line today do not like the modern ride. Boo Blasters would be okay if it had Boocifer-like animatronics, no cardboard, no guns, and also better themed story. I never understood why they wont put Boocifer in the Maestro's queue line balcony. As he fits the role. It looks awful the way it is now and the Funtvs make no since either. And also covering up the Phantom faces in the hallway is rubbish also. Its like they are embarresed of they're past. I hope so much that in the coming season or so they will either remake Phantom or make a Great Pumpkin themed dark ride. Anything spooky and well done. No cardboard or guns. Just you and the ride. Thats the way it should be for the fans of the past and the new fans of the future. But thats just my two-cents. Also they need some Pepper's Ghost as that was a cool effect. And take those stupid boards off the Phantom Theater faces they need and wish to be seen and enjoyed again. Long live Dark Rides!
