I wonder if the furnace will ever have warm air blasting again, I swear on opening day I felt air blasting

Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare New in 2026
MaestroJr replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I think yes every park that exist needs a dark ride to some extent, whether it be Boo Blasters or Phantom Theater level either way, a park without a true dark ride feels incomplete, as much as parks like Cedar Point are amazing the fact that it doesn’t have a single dark ride is insane, a dark ride is a ride that almost anyone can ride and it offers memories that last forever -
Do we think he just got gorilla glued?
-
I really hope for a Haunt and Winterfest overlay I think even just adding Christmas lights and Santa hats to the characters would be cool, for Haunt though I think they could do more and go all out
-
Well it’s important to remember that only a small portion of the guest will do things of that nature, most of the guest love the ride and enjoy it the way it’s intended, a few bad apples shouldn’t ruin the whole bunch, Kings Islands job is to use the security cameras they have on Phantom Theater and police the people breaking the rules, if they do that then everyone will enjoy the ride and the few bad apples will be removed from the park, I don’t recall any significant events happening on Boo Blasters in terms of vandalism so I know the park can maintain it. Having said that it is also entirely possible that the finger fell off due to malfunction, I’m not sure how really but I guess it’s possible
-
Saw on Facebook that someone broke one of Larry’s fingers off in the first scene in the ride, now maybe it fell off but my guess is some kid who was bored did it, that’s the only reason why I say that having animatronics within arms reach is a bad idea

Audio glitched in the queue tonight and yes I also noticed they were skipping quite a few opera boxes. Only main thing of note that I find funny is during the first weekend of the ride I got 999999 first time but now I can’t get it so I suppose the score has been adjusted to make it hard, does anyone know if some notes count for more points or do all the notes score the same total
-
1. Some things of note yesterday is I believe the volume in the queue is louder than opening day but maybe my imagination. 2. I smelled roses at the end of the ride which was nice 3. Maestro number 2 on the organ towards the ends lips were moving but no audio was heard. 4. I had a hard time scoring so I guess the scoring has been adjusted because on opening day it was easy to get the max 5. I heard some dialogue that I don’t remember on opening day so maybe that’s new 6. heat blast from the furnace wasn’t working nor the smell 7. Noticed that they load every two cars but then randomly a third car In the middle by itself and when riding in that car most of the scenes don’t trigger properly 8. Loading was much faster than opening day though.

Yes but this predates Snoopy, this goes back to the original Phantom Theater when it was built and considered part of International Street even though it was mostly in Hanna-Barbera Land
-
I know this has been discussed before but why is Phantom Theater considered part of International Street when the ride entrance and most of the entire ride is in Planet Snoopy?
-
When did they add Garbonzo standing behind the Gargoyle that wasn’t there opening day?, actually never mind maybe it just wasn’t working when I went but it was there!

Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare New in 2026

Quick question I was going through the photos on KIC history page of Phantom Theater displays at Haunt and came across this photo of a Vulture, Credit to Tomb Raider, I always thought that was from The Beastie but that looks an awful lot like the Vulture we currently have on Phantom Theater ON, is this vulture from Phantom Theater originally? -
Super cool photos, I figured it was an original, I thought since they already have these busts their was no need to re create them when they already look alright, I wonder if they plan on using the other ones
-
Besides the fact that the Flash Powder barrel is still used at the exit for The Beast, these are the current original Phantom Theater props still being used in new Phantom Theater Opening Nightmare. 1. Balcony where maestro stands 2. Ride system and Cars for the ride 3. 99 % sure that Wall bust near the electrician is an original Phantom Theater queue prop 4. The ledge where maestro pulled back the curtain at the beginning of the ride may still be there but currently their is a curtain there blocking it, the candles at the end of the ride were original candles and they were removed during remodeling this year for the new ride. 5. The Chandeliers in the queue are originals and they are also retrofitted this year with additional lights to simulate lighting that’s all I can think of for now be sure to let me know if you guys have more.

Got two rides in today and absolutely exceeded my expectations, I want to thank Six Flags, Sally, and Kings Island for making this all happen, briefly wanted to share my pros and cons of the new ride and Share a few photos from the ride, I plan on many many more rides this summer. Also got a super smooth ride on The Beast so shoutout to the retracking crew for doing a superb job. Phantom Theater Pros: Soundtrack and Toccata is back Facade and Queue is outstanding with the spooky theme All the animatronics are amazing simply put New life has been breathed into the building especially when entering the loading area with the lighting windows Cons: The wait time was ridiculous for a ride that has a tried and true loading process Some effects are cheap and carried over from Boo Blasters like Larry on the turntable and the Bosco door Not sold on the interactive aspect 100 percent, I like it but think it could be better, maybe it’ll grow on me Some of the animatronics have a goofy look that fights with their scary original Overall a phenomenal addition to Kings Island for families and friends to ride for years to come and a worthy successor and tribute to original Phantom Theater and so, so much better than Boo Blasters, could not be happier to have Phantom Theater back at the park.
