Rides during off season.

I was just thinking yesterday about the rides during off season. Maybe this is some dumb question but I desided to turn to the people who know it all on these boardes. When it does snow what do they do with the rides? Because I don't know to my logic they could rust maybe theres some anti rust thing they put on the tracks I don't know. I just have a picture of face off with snow all over it so I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what they do.

Well, if you think about it, have you ever been to the park when it is raining outside? They don't cover the rides up for that. Coasters are made to be outdoors, so they are protected against the weather. Maintence crews check the coasters constanly during the season, and during the off season all of the trains are taken off the of the tracks and sometimes part of the tracks are covered up (depending on what type of work they are doing in that section like retracking). You won't find all the rides plastic wrapped against weather in the off season.

Excellent question!

The rollercoasters do rust. If you notice where the paint is scratched off of the tracks (where the wheels meet the track), you'll noticed that those areas are rusted. The paint is a protectant from the rust.

I lot of the other things involve looking at the mechanics and deciding what needs to be rehabed. Parts are replaced, joints are lubricated.. things like that.

Oh, and of course, every once and a while a ride will get a paint job.
