CoasterKrazy
Here are a few things I noticed while at the park today, just to give everyone a "heads up." 1. The lookout on the exit of White Water Canyon has been equipped with new interactive sprayers. There are six red and white "fireman sprayers" (for lack of a better term, similar to what you may find on top of a childs toy firetruck. After a few minutes of watching, it appeared to me that number 6 gives you the best bang for your buck with the greatest soaking factor. 2. Several more of those multiple-ad signs are being placed around the park, along with numerous new vehicles advertising local dealerships. 3. While in line for Italian Job, two men behind me said that they were friends with a designer from Premier. They said that according to their friend, the staircase effect would not be ready until July. I asked about the fishtailing (whether it is on, off, not noticeable, or not there at all) and he knew nothing about it. As has been mentioned before, humorous road signs have been place in the queue, which has been covered by a large yellow tarp. The aqueduct water effect was in operation, although the helicopter scene worked only sporadically through the day. There was a crane at the spiral all day long, for what reason, I do not know. 4. From Drop Zone; there are several Antique cars behind Delirium, roughly where King Cobra's queue and station used to be. A few of them were covered in tarps (possibly shrink-rapped i.e. the third train on Mantis at Cedar Point) while the others were merely out in the open. It may have been the sun, but the paint on the cars seemed very vibrant, especially from so high up. Take that for what you will. 5. The shell of the "second generation" EuroBungee attraction on the former Flight Commander sight has been taken down, and the original EuroBungee trampolines have been put back up, but they are not yet operational. 6. This may or may not be new for the 2005 season, but I did not notice it last year. On the front car of The Vortex trains, full barriers have been placed in the nose so that riders feet cannot go to the very front of the car. 7. It may have been my imagination, but it felt to me that the sequence on Tomb Raider had been changed slightly. The slow decent at the end of the ride began much higher in the building, and the gondola was at a much steeper angle, with riders tilted more toward the ground. This could be accounted for weight differenes (as this was one of my very rare fully-loaded rides) so I would appreciate it if anyone else noticed anything different. PKI Dude
Oh great, new sprayers again?
Admiral Ackbar
Yes, I have noticed these new sprayers as well. When myself, Mrs. Admiral and Baby Admiral were up at the park last, they had them on. They do look like the things on a fire engine. I'll have to check them out again after I get back from my Korea trip. Have a nice day. CoasterKrazy
Oh great, new sprayers again? Again? When had new sprayers been installed before?
Jasper
Awesome i cant wait for the stair effect on IJ:ST. But I also cant wait to just ride it either.
Reclaimer
The crane was at IJ this morning working on the helix for some reason. I got to the park at opening, and IJ didn't open for a couple hours afterwords. Upon walking by IJ, I saw the crane there, and a man in the middle of the helix doing some work. And boy, those new sprayers on WWC pack a punch! It just doesn't feel like the trip was complete, tough, without Delerium.
Captain Nemo
From what I heard Delirium should be working in July.
Maestro
7. It may have been my imagination, but it felt to me that the sequence on Tomb Raider had been changed slightly. This could be accounted for weight differenes (as this was one of my very rare fully-loaded rides) so I would appreciate it if anyone else noticed anything different. You are correct, the angle of the gondola can vary from ride to ride on the final descent. Depending on the weight distribution, the gondola may catch in a slightly different position after each top spin. The weight of the gondola could also effect where the gondola is released to the top spin, thus making a slight height difference (the heavier the gondola, the lower the release point). Depending on weight, I've seen it do a full top spin, a half top spin, or any combination of things. The brakes always engage at the same time, so it really comes down to weight and momentum of the gondola as to how far it goes around. Reclaimer
From what I heard Delirium should be working in July. Wow. That really, really sucks. One of the best rides in the park, down for around a month. Oh well, I'll be thrilled to see it going again!
PKIVortex
What I don't understand why did they block off the extra room in the front car of Vortex? Vortex has had that extra room in the nose of the front car for a very long time (87). Must be some kind of saftey reason.
harvesterofyoursorrow
Thats the only reason I rode front car! I'm 6'1" and need the foot room!
tubaman
Thats the only reason I rode front car! I'm 6'1" and need the foot room! Well on FoF, the back car has the most room from what I hear. You probly already know that though.
Admiral Ackbar
Yes on FOF the back row of a car has the most room. And between load side and driver side - the driver side has the most room. So if you are tall, or have the typical ACE physique like myself, you want to sit in the rear driver side corner of the car for most comfort. Also - try and take your fanny packs on with you. I once left mine in the station and someone stole it! I lost my digital camera and my ACE membership card!
geekzapoppin
ACE physique! HA! That's too funny. Sadly, I feel I also have such a physique. I haven't been to the park in a couple of years, but the last time I was there, I barely fit in The Beast and The Racer seats. I haven't changed much in size since then (6'3" and 275lbs) so with the seatbelts I hear they've installed, will I be able to ride at all? I'd hate to not be able to ride the best attractions the park has to offer.
coasterville
If The Racer and Beast lapbars don't cause you problems, don't worry about the seatbelts. Those things are about a mile long. To be safe I would pull the belt up out of the retractor before you sit down.
harvesterofyoursorrow
Last time I was at the park, I saw two brothers that were your physique geekzapoppin riding racer in the same row. I was wondering if it was legal.
CoasterKrazy
Hmm..it seems my last post was deleted. Maybe I posted it somewhere else... Anyway, there was something I forgot. 8. The entrance for Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle is now on the right side of the bridge, and now GoldPass members enter on the left side, and go straight to the ride instead of looping through the pre-ride room. The queue barriers were altered slightly to accommodate this change.
