Monster Removed in 1981?

I stumbled accross this site several months back that has some neat photos of PKI (just KI at the time) from 1981. In one of the photos, it shows and mentions the Monster, which at the time had a neat design on the platform, but the ride itself is missing. Does anyone have an explaination for this?

Kings Island 1981

It's the 3rd photo from the top.

Thanks,

Ryan

Well, Everly Aircraft (The manufacturer) Always has to haul them off to work on them, its like every 10 or so years the park has to have it shipped off for a couple of months.

Paul Revere's Midnight Ride at Holiday World had this happen to it recently, Everyone was so bummed, but it came back much better.

The Racer's lift hill from the Eiffel Tower. Notice the final bunny hop that has since been removed

and that the final brake run was not enclosed. The pond on the left side of this shot is in the

Lion Country Safari area and is where the "drum" for Flight of Fear sits now.

Also note the swirly pattern painted on the Monster's platform, with no Monster!

That was quoted from the website Ryan provided, in that picture and caption the guy claims that the final bunny hill of The Racer was removed. Is tht true? The Racer looks the same to me and the same to pictures on RCDB.

Yea, it was removed. It was in the location that the pathway is today that takes you back to FOF. They made the track straight and added the bridge. Next time you go to FOF, take a close look. In that pic, it shows the last bunny hop to be right next to the main lift. When you see it today, there is not bunny hop there. Just soemthing you wont catch unless you were told about it or looked for it.

EDIT: However, I do not believe FOF sits as far back as that link says it does. If you look in that last pic, it shows a pathway. I believe they made that pathway wider and FOF sits now somewhere by that red shack. Correct me if I am wrong. It could be the angle of the pic, but I dont believe it sits that far back.
