Carowinds has announced the reopening of their newly renovated campsite this year:

"The multi-million dollar renovation of the 25-acre campground at Paramount's Carowinds features nearly 200 campsites, 15 rental cabins, enhanced facilities and an abundance of recreational activities for the entire family.

New Features for 2006 Include

New air-conditioned cabins with kitchens and bathrooms

Free shuttle service to and from Paramount's Carowinds every half-hour

Discounted Park tickets for campers

Wireless Internet access

Level, pull-through sites with full hookups, 50 amp for RV's

Spacious tenting sites

Bathroom facility with hot showers

Laundry facilities and campground store

Swimming pool and play areas"

There is hope for the PKI campground...

...though anything final will probably be decided by the new owners.

Since people wanted it to. A swimming pool and play areas? Sounds like Carowinds really did put some money into the campground.
