KIBeast
Yay, Maureen! Nice job of clearing the air. Glad to hear that The Beast was not on fire. Nor sonny, either. I'm with the ones that like SOB. I can't wait to get a ride this year to see if I notice the re-tracking difference.
Steveo3631
I remember the KI wood coaster maintenance crew as being the best ever! They could find the smallest rough spot on Beast and have it taken care of before morning. I've seen them unlayer a hundred feet of track to get to one bad board five layers down. Their care of those rides always impressed me!
The Interpreter
And, they could cut SOB apart, get the valleyed train out of the Rose Bowl unvalleyed with a crane, and have the ride back up and running in mere hours. Those guys do a great job!
CoastersNSich
Well, I know when I visited PKD in 2000, you could feel the heat from the flame off the top of Volcano from down on the midways around the ride. Very interesting to hear about this false alarm. At least the park took the proper precautions and called in the fire department to investigate. Remember the Action Zone stunt show back in 1999? At the end of the shows, fire would shoot out of the water tower... and you could feel it. As an employee at Drop Zone and Congo Falls, I REALLY felt it on those HOT, busy days. screamingnight
What is wrong with you people? I know it did not really catch on fire but how culd you hope that SOB did? Poor, innocent SOB what did he do to anyone? How would you feel if your son was on fire? I bet The Beast would cry his eyes out if SOB was on fire. Jasper
I wonder where the smell of fire was coming from?
Steveo3631
There's nothing like doing a test ride and smelling a camp fire, and knowing you're nowhere NEAR the campground! That smell went away I assume with the loss of the friction brakes. Thank God for treated lumber! We never did a test ride when a guest complained of smelling smoke or complained about a lap restraint. That was fixed by the policy in 1999. Flight Of The Dead
shame on those who wanted the Son of Beast to die!!, I mean common...if you show up to the park ,you would only see drop zone and effile tower and face/off, SOB wouldnt be in the picture anymore matter of fact, to the people who hoped that SOB was on fire, i hope some day you catch on fire. coaster-chickie
^ Well that's not very nice...lol telling someone you hope that they catch fire isn't the besst way to make a new friend...I do like SoB tho and i would be sad if it burned down...plus the whole effect of seeing a big massive coaster when you pull into the park would be ruined and you wouldn't be all pumped up for a day of riding...now if Top Gun went up in flames, I wouldn't mind too much
Vortex
I am sure the park is working on a way to save SOB of beast. If you take a ride and look how much wood was taken out to fix you see they still care.

screamingnight
I really would not mind if Top Gun was in flames as long as there were no people on it. Maybe put something great in its place? -cough- inverted coaster -cough-
StXsteven
thats kind of ruthless.. why do you want rides to burn down? haha. Why don't you just say you wish they would get rid of it.. hoping it burns down is.. just creepy haha.. Now I'm afraid someons going to throw some gas on it and then light a match or something. Honestly though could it burn down? its so massive haha.
PKIVortex
I don't think it would be cool to see any ride burn to the ground. Yes some rides are better then some, but PKI wouldn't be the same if we lost Top Gun or anything else for that matter. PKI has lost too many rides in the past few years.
