The Interpreter
Why does it also say "The Jet Coaster"? Because the shirt was meant for Carowinds.... And someone just slapped "Paramount's Kings Island" across the bottom and sent them to PKI. To the merchandiser, a coaster is a coaster is a coaster, I guess. I pointed this out last weekend. I, too, was amazed. But then, perhaps it is just a puff piece (an aside meant for WooferBearATL) (If newspapers don't have to be right when they write about coasters and parks, why should parks care about accuracy when they sell stuff? After all, it's just coasters, right?)
HelixSpiral
Somebody made a mistake. Top gun: The Jet Coaster opened in 1999 at Carowinds. edit: Interpreter beat me to it

The Interpreter
Don't be. The park SHOULD be. There were literally all different kinds of these shirts, all with the same error. I like your picture of it, too: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/pkiguy1/deta...scd.jpg&.src=ph
PKIVortex
You'd think the park wouldn't even sell the T-shirt if it was a mistake. They should have sent the shipment back. Or least be selling them dirt cheap.

Delirium13
does it really matter??? no some people are .... NEVER.... satisfied - and this just goes to prove that point.... So it'd be okay if there were shirts that said Vortex est. 1992? (The Vortex at Carowinds was built in '92) I think that KI should to send all those T's back and make sure they get it right. King Maple The Tree King
They are getting rid of the parks and I'm sure they want to get rid of of all their paramoutn branded inventory too to make the bottom line look better.
Erosarrow05
It certainly would be in the parks best interest right now to make sure they get the date right on that shirt.
Gordon Bombay
A new shir tthat they hav ethis year is my favorite.......its has a bright yellow star in the middle of a red shirt and features mock russian lettering that says PARAMOUNTS Kings Island AMUSEMENT PARK with olive branches around it and looks like an old communist symbol. Join the Kings Island communist party today.
The Interpreter
Until very recently, no one at Paramount or Paramount Parks wanted to admit they ran any amusement parks. They were too busy calling them theme parks, pushing the movies connection, etc. For the longest time, they wouldn't allow the usage of the parks' names without the obligatory Paramount's (or Paramount, in the case of Canada) before it. They finally loosen up a bit and get comfortable with who they are....and then they are gone. Sigh.
coasterking123456
It was called the jet coaster maybe 'cause of that movie they made with the JETS in it and TOM CRUISE and that girl chasin' him around and the AIR FORCEand it simulates a part in that movie made by Paramount. read the signs while in the queue line people!!!! Gordon Bombay
^Read the WHOLE topic before you post, no one was arguing what the theme was. And by the way for your information the movie takes place wtih and was made with the help of the UNITED STATES NAVY not Air Force. Our ride is called "Top Gun". It is the official name of the ride and that is whats printed on the maintenance sheets, map, and park website. Top Gun: The Jet Coaster is the name of the Top Gun themed coasters at Paramount's Carowinds, Great America, and Canada's Wonderland. Top Gun: The Jet Coaster was built at Paramount's Carowinds in 1999 (It was actually originally supposed to be themed to Godzilla but changed after the movie did poorly) and which is what the shirts PKIC member TopGun1993 took pictures of. The topic is about how and why PKI is selling those shirts/sweatshirts which are intended to be sold for the ride at Carowinds. Next time, before complaining and accusing everyone else of not knowing what theyre talking about and not getting the research done you should probably do it yourself. Have a nice day, and remember READ THE WHOLE TOPIC before writisng a post and only make the post if it adds something intelligent or remotely interesting to the conversation to make our internet community better and to avoid anymore idiotic posts in the future.
