Bells, Zingo Hit by Bad Storm

Featured Replies

Zingo, the classic woodie with a court ordered closing time of 9pm, was hit by a falling tree, the Ferris Wheel was basically folded in half. The park is closed. This right after they had finally gotten court approval to build another wood coaster.

Reopening plans to be announced soon:

They lived in houses right beside the fairgrounds. The original proposed location would have subjected them, they said, to high levels of noise, especially on their porches. Bells agreed, as part of a settlement, to build the coaster landward of Zingo, and not in the parking lot by the houses. There is very little space back there, and I can see a Cornball type coaster being built to fit what is already in the park.

Gravity Group has been engaged to design the ride.

Zingo, the existing wood coaster, must close no later than 9 each day under an existing court order. Under no circumstance is it allowed to operate later than that. The new coaster will have the same restriction.

The houses.

Not like the situation at Dorney Park. There, the park was there long before the houses where the chronic complainers live. . .

Kennywood had a similar situation, but recently bought out the last of the affected residents.
