ohioamusementparkzrule Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Yep! Thats right Here are some pictures Quote
KIBeast Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I'd like to hear what some people here think that Project 2007 will be? I mean, what type of coaster? The rumors I've heard. 1)500ft coaster. I really don't think this one has any merit. 2)Multi-looper. Could be, not really sure. 3)Intamin water coaster. Supports looks like this may be it. Still not sure. Quote
OHpki Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 The new coaster is rumored to go by the name "Maverick." It's being built on the site of the old White Water Landing in the Frontier Town area of the park . Quote
screamingnight Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I hope its a coaster that beats Colossus record for most inversion or beats KK`s record. Quote
Vortex Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I thought I saw a shirt at KI that say Maverick The Top Gun Coaster. Guess they could use the name for both coasters. Quote
Admiral Ackbar Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Thats quite a work of art they're erecting there ain't it? I haven't been up to the Point in a few years. Maybe I'll have to pack myself, Mrs. Admiral and Toddler Admiral up in the family van and head up next year. Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I just hope Toddler Admiral doesn't become ill and you have to leave the park early. That seems to always happen. Quote
RailRider Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Name -> Maverick What -> Intamin Wing Ryder Similar to what Point Adventura is getting except the seats pivot on the center axis similar to X. This will break all records for inversions and there may be a few more records thrown in. Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Let us hope that one of them is days and hours of an Intamin coaster actually being operational during its first season... Quote
Captain Picard Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 If you look at the new photos out with the supports up, it doesn't look to be high enough for a Wing Ryder. If they put track on the supports the way they are now, the rider on the inside would plow into the ground. Quote
KIBeast Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 ^That's what some people were saying over at Pointbuzz. That the footers are too low for a wing ryder type of seat. Quote
ragerunner Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 From the looks of the layout, and the design of the track this may be the Intamin Aquatrax coaster (as rumored). If it is, this may signal that Cedar Point is 'going in a whole new direction'. The family direction. This would also give Cedar Point one of their first chances in years to really theme a ride. Should be interesting to watch. I know over at pointbuzz their has been some recent discussion about this being an Aquatrax and a lot of the thrill ride fans are about to wet their pants. They just can't believe that Cedar Point would build a family coaster! Quote
TheKlockster Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 I was up there yesterday - and they have a fence around part of the construction area. It is funny though because they have drilled peep holes in the fence. There are certain spots they want you to see - and certain spots they are hiding. Quote
KIBeast Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Here is the Aqua Trax This would make sense considering that CP was talking about replacing White Water Landing with another water ride, but those plans were pushed back when they decided to install maXair. Quote
