vortexdemon05
Can anyone confirm this? From Paramount Carowinds Park News - (7/21/06) A local area reader tells me that the park seems to have installed video cameras on the Top Gun trains and now now selling DVD videos of your ride to guests, similar to the system put into place on the Canadian park’s Top Gun earlier this season. Anyone care to share their video to show off the quality? (7/13/06) Carowinds will be offering a special lunch with the NickToons characters event from August 4th to 6th, from 11:30am to 1:00pm. Tickets are $12.99 for adults and $7.99 for the kids (3-6) and include the lunch and entertainment by Spongebob, Dora, Diego, Wanda, Comso and Little Bill. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Carowinds website. (3/24/06) Paramount’s Carowinds celebrated the 30th Birthday of Thunder Road on March 23rd. (3/16/06) Paramount’s Carowinds has announced the near completion of a multi-million dollar renovation of the 25 acre Camp Wilderness Resort campground. The 25 acre site features nearly 200 campsites and 15 rental cabins. The campground features over 140 paved RV sites as well. The centerpiece of the resort is the Camp Wilderness Lodge, a WiFi ready connivence store store with laundry facilities and a television lounge. The campground also offers a pool, mini golf, shuffleboard, volleyball and a playground for the kiddies. Click Here
KIBeast
I would like to see this. Mainly, to check out the quality of the video. Wonder how much these videos cost?

Deliriumbeast
Wow! The qualitiy on the video is a lot better than what I thought it would be! Maybe in the next couple of months PKI will install video cameras on their Top Gun. I know this is probably impossible, but cameras should be installed on all of the Drop Zones in each of the (former) Paramount Parks. The expressions on some people's faces would be priceless! Reclaimer
You know, I never thought about it before just now... But Cedar Fair could've easily either done away with the idea of continuing installation of this on PCar's Top Gun or at least made it a little more generic...but they didn't. It's filled with scenes from Top Gun...and the music, too. Who knows, maybe they'll keep the theme... Although I'm sure it's not too hard to change the content that's shown on those DVD's. So this whole post could've been a waste of time.
The Interpreter
They've said they aren't going to make major changes during this season. So it doesn't surprise me this went on. It could even be a test to see how it works before thinking of doing something similar at Cedar Point and the other parks.
Reclaimer
Oh, I know they weren't wanting to do major changes during the season, but I could've seen them not putting in so much actual Top Gun footage if they had the intention of dropping the licenses. I do hope they end up implementing this in all the CF parks. I'd love an on-ride video of me on The Beast, MF, and Dragster.
Reclaimer
Looks like Top Gun over at PGA just got cameras installed: http://www.norcalcoasters.net/news.php?id=0804066 (last two pictures on page)
KIBeast
Whoa! $20.00 for an on-ride video? You can buy a movie for that much instead of a two minute (if that) coaster ride.
CoastersRZ
I seem to recall that is the amount that they currently charge for a DVD of your experience on EXtreme Skyflyer at Kings Island.
KIBeast
I didn't think about that. Guess it's just another "upsell" item. I can hear them saying, why bother with an on-ride photo when you can watch yourself riding the entire ride. I know that now they are really pushing the on-ride photos with the plastic frame. I always try to remember to get the old paper frame. I don't think the plastic is much better.
