Reon
As soon as I got in the park, I took a train ride. Needless to say, the train tips during the turns. But still, I nabbed some shots and got a good view of that part of the park. Next up, I decided to whore some credits and immediately went to the Little Dipper, or Paddle Boats as Camden calls it. Not the best ride, but considering it was a kiddy that you can ride without stealing a child, it was pretty nice. After that, I decided to cool off the only way I knew how: the log flume. THIS IS NOT A DAN FRIENDLY RIDE!! The splash from the last drop drenches everything within a mile radius. Next up was the REAL dipper. Let me just say that those NAD trains are comfy, and I'd love to buy one if they ever went up for auction. As for the ride itself, not the best coaster. However, there were two nice pops of ejector air, one of them coming out of the tunnel With my credits accounted for, I set off to explore the rest of the park. Right across from Big Dipper, there was a haunted house. I'm counting it as a hidden credit, since it was powered by gravity and had a chain lift followed by a rollercoaster dip. Needless to say, I'm called a coaster house for the rest of the trip. Next up were the paratroopers, a ride type I've never done. After that, I did the bobs, roundup, and ferris wheel. At this point I had hit everything on that side of the park, so I went back to the middle for some more new-to-me rides. First off were the flyers (my first flyers since I discovered that snapping was good). After a few rounds on it, I went on my first real whip ride. It's a fun little attraction that worked great with the park. At that point, I had about an hour untill I could catch the bus back to the TTA center, so I decided to grab some more laps on the coasters. Unfortunately it started to storm when I was on the credit whore coaster, so I ran to the Dodgems for shelter afterwards. To my suprise, all of the rides were still running dispite the sky now pouring rain onto the cement floor. So I took advantage of the situation and rode the bumpers untill the storm calmed down. By that point, I only had enough time to ride the carousel 2 times before I had to leave. Overall, nice park but not the best. I'll give it a 7/10 for being entertaining while still using old school technology. Plus the coaster house was nice
Avatar
Every park has its place! Glad you got to enjoy Camden Park despite the rain.
The Interpreter
The Little Dipper is the Little Dipper. The paddle boats are back behind it on Swan Lake. What's the bobs? --The Interpreter, who wonders
Reon
Actually, there is a sign at Little Dipper's entrance that reads "Pattle Boats". That part was meant as a joke. As for the bobs, himilaya ring a bell? They call it Top Cat or something like that...
The Interpreter
Actually, of all things, Hot Kat is a rehabbed CATerpillar!
Reon
My bad. I assumed it was a himilaya type ride...
KIBeast
Great report! I have yet to go this year. I need to make time. I haven't rode either of the Dippers in so long. The haunted house is neat too. I can see where you could consider it a credit. It is gravity driven and has a chain lift.
Reon
Yeah. Its like a wild mouse that goes through a haunted house at slower speeds (lots of hairpin turns..) As for you going, just tell me when. If I don't have a game to go to (stupid marching band), I can meet you there or something...
The Interpreter
And if you like the Haunted House at Camden, be sure to check out The Devil's Den at Conneaut Lake Park in Pennsylvania, a near clone (with a hugely nasty gum wall at the top turnaround!). It was previously known as Dr. Moriarty's Wild Ride.
Reon
I'll keep that in mind if I ever get a chance to go there. But I'm hoping to reserve my theme parking next year for Cedar Fair properties. Especially if we're doing that KI Central trip *points at old dead thread he made* I should probabbly bump that some time...
KIBeast
Reon, I'll PM you when I am interested in going. I was thinking about September 9th. Let me know what's happening with marching band and if you can go.

Avatar
What’s a Pronto Pup? And Should Hillbilly Hotdogs be one of the stops on the route for the PKI Central Trip and be a proud sponsor of the shirts?
Avatar
Looks interesting, I just found thier site Hillbilly Hot Dogs the photo's really tell the story man I have never craved a hot dog like I do right now!! And after a 1lb Hot dog, we'll need 3 more days in the Parks. O man, I Wanna see the Weenie Man at the Weenie stand.
KIBeast
A pronto pup is the same thing as a corn dog. I believe that originally, corn dogs were called pronto pups. It may be a regional thing too. Not 100% sure. Hillbilly Hot Dogs are awesome! You'll have to give 'em a try. There are so many different varieties. If you sing the Hillbilly Hot Dogs song, you get a dog for free. The song is listed on their menus.
The Interpreter
Uh, Pronto Pups are NOT the same as corn dogs. Pronto Pup is and still is a name brand, and Pronto Pups have a far fluffier and less sweet coating than the typical corn dog. Kennywood, at one time, served Pronto Pups. Last time I checked, they no longer do. Interestingly, this web site says Cedar Point serves Pronto Pups! http://www.prontopup.net/id20.html http://www.prontopup.net/
Avatar
I had to show the wife the hill billy web site and she got a craving for a hot dog too!! But here in Indianapolis, there really is not a great hot dog place, so we settled for Skyline and it was good but no Pronto Pups. I’m going to haft to have someone send some over
The Interpreter
If you ever get down that way, the Route 2 location of Hillbilly Hot Dogs is much, much better than the one down by Marshall by downtown. Either is fine when the owner is around, but the LeSage one (Route 2) is more consistent, has better food and is more entertaining. For one thing, you can sit inside a renovated school bus to eat your victuals (or vittles, as the case may be)...

screamslikeagirl
Looks like you live in my neck of the woods. We are about due for a Camden Park trip. My 4 year old daughter and I have season passes so we have been quite a few times this year. I still can't talk her into even going on the Little Dipper though. And can you believe, I haven't had a Hillbilly Hotdog yet? I'm gonna have to put that on my list of things to do. Glad you had a good trip.
