Screamscape is reporting passes for Valleyfair go on sale tomorrow. The Valleyfair pass is cheaper than the 06 pass, and is good for admission to Valleyfair only, and a Max pass is only $10 more. I would think the upgrade for us Ohians would be moe, as we have more parks in the area, but we shall see...

Taken from Screamscape-

Park News - (9/1/06) After a bit of confusion over what kind of Season Passes will be offered and at a couple of the acquired Paramount Parks, Valleyfair will start selling their 2007 Season Passes tomorrow. The low starting price is $74.95 for adults and Kids are just $32.95. (Prices good through October 31st, 2006). The big change this year is the fact that your Valleyfair Season Pass will be valid ONLY at Valleyfair and not any other Cedar Fair park. That’s where the new Cedar Fair Maxx Pass comes in, good at all Cedar Fair parks (except separate ticket waterparks and special ticket events) for just an extra $10.

So....if this is true it would work out better if there was a way to get out to Valleyfare and purchase the Maxx pass, as it would be cheaper than buying here at KI. Sounds kind of like the old days when we would drive to Kentuky Kingdom to get our Six Flags passes since they were one of the cheapest places to get them.

But you wouldn't get the perks PKI guests would get. Not only that, unless you are buying a couple hundred passes or work for an airline and get free flights, I don't see how it would benefit you economically. I on the other hand drive a truck. smile.gif

It's still cheaper to get the Six Flags season pass in Louisville. We priced getting them in the spring for Georgia and it was close to 20 dollars cheaper. So we would have just drove up to see the wife's mother and got them there.

It all depends on WHEN and WHERE you buy your pass. SFOG passes have been cheaper historically at Publix (think a much fancier Kroger) the season before. I think they were $49 for 2006, IF purchased at Publix last year.

KK passes are often cheaper if bought at Kroger with a Kroger Plus card.

Separately, SFGAd passes go on sale September 16. They are $74.99. Historically, one can buy a season pass to Kentucky Kingdom for less than a one day admission to Great Adventure, which, currently is $59.99 undiscounted (which few admissions actually are--it's $39.99 on the web, for example).

Ahhhhh

I still prefer Krogers to Publix as they are better on prices.

The thing that Publix does better is baked goods. They make some awesome cakes!!!

Publix isn't that expensive! I NEVER shop at Kroger. Publix is more expensive than some - but I wouldn't say its more expensive than Kroger unless they have changed alot since the last time I was down there.

I know Kroger charges more for everything - then says if you have their plus card - you can get charged regular price. Or you could just go shop somewhere else, which is what I do.

Can you buy a KK pass at any Kroger - or just the ones around Louisville?

I'm not saying that they charge a lot more than Kroger but in general they do charge more.

The Deli's at Publix are usually better unless you go to Shabatt Kroger (in the Jewish Area of town).

My theory why you can't buy passes at/through PKI/KI is probably related to the design/look of the season passes. I know that it hasn't been decided/revealed what the park will be called or whether Paramount themes will remain for 2007. The question is, do they want a filmstrip design on the passes (as revealed in a graphic we saw for the Cedar Fair Maxx Pass) when it's possible that the park will have been de-Paramountized by the start of next season? That's possibly also a reason why Canada's Wonderland pass sales were pulled.

I do doubt it has to do with the pricing though - $75 for KI only and $125 for all parks is a great deal IMO. However, how do they want to continue the gold pass program and/or other similar perks?

I suspect that you are exactly right.

When the passes are unveiled it will be of little secret how little the park will have to do with the former Paramount company.
