I think in the station of The Racer it should have some historic things about it and how it brought rollercoasters back. I mean if it was not for our Racer there would not be as much coasters as there is today. It started the golden age of rollercoasters. Anyone else agree?

Actually it started the 2nd Golden Age of roller coasters. The first died with the Great Depression. I do however agree. The Racers are very historic objects and should not been looked down upon. ...plus it still packs quite a punch in its old age.

I think before they retheme the station they should work on making it smooth. It isn't as bad as Blue Streak - but its pretty rough. The backward side is a little smoother - and it has more airtime, as its travelling backwards, and theres no seat back to restrain you during moments of airtime.

Racer is actually far smoother right now than it was in, say, 1994-1995. And given what I have felt on other Cedar Fair wood coasters (Villian since the Six Flags Worlds of Adventure acquisition comes immediately to mind along with Shivering Timbers since the Michigan's Adventure buyout), I am not sure what to expect.

I do know that Rebel Yell and both Hurlers were even worse at the time Cedar Fair bought the parks. The South Carolina Hurler is now smoother than it has been in years, but still nothing to write home about. Want smooth, well operated woodies? Look at Kennywood or Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

At one time, Kings Island had by far the best wood coaster maintenance in the business. The fact they were able to keep Son of Beast running year after year is proof of that. The tallest, fastest wood coaster on the planet, and they kept it running.

They did this at no small expense, to put it mildly. Even if Son of Beast reopens, one has to wonder how long Cedar Fair will be willing to put major money into the coaster year after year after year, especially if ridership does not improve. Especially since it was not Cedar Fair that decided to build it in the first place. There was once this coaster in Pennsylvania with a very similar situation. You may have heard of it. It was called Hercules. Emphasis on was.
